Abstract Man

Faces. Portraits. People. I always struggle with them.

But I keep on trying! I had some left-over watercolour, so rather than throwing it away, I decided to use it and create this painting of an abstract man. No pencil outlines were drawn to begin with, I just sploshed the colour around and carried on until I was happy with the result. Does it really matter what an abstract painting looks like? I’m not sure, but I was happy with how this finished when I decided to stop.

Slightly unfinished, very rough, and probably out of proportion, but hey ho! It’s a watercolour abstract, from the realms of my imagination, and it passed a quick half-hour whilst I was doing it. For #WorldWatercolorMonth.

It’s a strong watercolor. I can see it as a wall mural.

Thanks, Robert. Yes I can see that, although I don’t know whether I’d like it any bigger than it actually is!

Oh…I meant that it looks like the finer kinds of art that I see on San Francisco’s buildings.

Thanks for letting me clear that up. 🙂

Art is art. Much better than I could do because I don’t do people.

The whole painting is great …. the eyes are amazing.

When gazing at the painting, I have this over-whelming feeling of “you know who that is!” But … for the life of me, I just cannot work out who it is.
    GREAT painting though Tom.

This isn’t of anyone in particular, Cobs, just a figment of my imagination.
I like how they eyes work in this picture.
      Thanks, Cobs.

Well done! I like your use of colors. For some reason, this makes me think of David Bowie.

I can kind of see that, Eugenia, but it isn’t a picture of anyone… it’s just where my imagination took me.
      Thanks, Eugenia.
