Fossil Inspired, anyhow.
Today’s #WORLDWATERCOLORGROUP watercolour has been inspired by the Asteroceras Obtusym, otherwise known as the Obtuse Star Ammonite, which I’m taking to be a well-known fact. According to Wikipedia, this is an extinct species of cephalopod of the Ammonite sub-class. They were carnivores, nektonic at that. These fast-moving nektonic carnivores lived around the Jurassic period, around 189-196 million years ago. And their evidence of being on Earth still exists to this day.
For those of you unaware, as I was, a nektonic animal is one that swims freely, regardless of current. A whale is a nektonic animal.
I don’t think I can get ‘nektonic’ in any more, so here’s today’s painting (done in about an hour):
