Goldfinch on the Nature Trail

#NatureDoodlewash

On the nature trail today, we come across a goldfinch. I must admit that this is one of my favourite birds that come to visit, but only because of the colours… I still like the starlings, the swallows and the swifts, the magpies, the kestrels, the buzzards, the doves, the pigeons, and the occasional hawk, plus the ducks and geese (mustn’t forget them!). In fact, they’re all my favourites, but the goldfinch is a particular favourite. And I enjoyed painting one as well… took only half an hour!

Watercolour pencils provided the colour this time, and my good brush lifted them and spread them about a bit. I forgot to ink the pencil lines before I launched into the colour, but I don’t think this one needed the ink.

A very handsome looking gold finch Tom! Aren’t watercolor pencils a lot of fun? Have you tried the crayons yet?

You really should give the crayons a try. Lots of fun. No WiFi on the boat so just getting minute to catch up.

I tried to find some the other day in the art shop and couldn’t see them – I’ll have to visit again and ask (I was short for time the other say!) Thanks for the pointer!
