View(?) from the window: Boxed In

I don’t know what I noticed first.

The darkness or the skittering sounds coming from the Vestibule.

Maybe it was both at the same time.

I popped my head in as I walked passed and noticed immediately where both were coming from. The darkness caused by a huge brick wall just outside the Vestibule window; the skittering from the mass of spiders of all kinds seemingly taking a little holiday in the Room above the Cellar. Frighteningly, most of them skittered away as I entered the Vestibule, with the odd one or two brave ones who decided just to hang around.

I wasn’t bothered about the cobwebs… or the spiders… well, it’s that time of year.

I wasn’t that bothered about the brick wall outside either, for that matter. The Mansion’s up to its tricks again. Well, it’s either that or it’s getting ready for the Gathering. It’s never put up a brick wall before though… maybe the Mansion wants to keep some things out… or someTHING in.

OOooOOooooOOOooooOOOOoooo

I’m sure it’ll let me know what in due course. The Mansion knows what its doing…

I have spiders in my flat, but two in the bathroom died of starvation and the wolf spiders have been notable in their absence! 🙂

Winter is coming so I keep having to throw out the ladybirds which keep invading my home! 🙂

Lots of luck with the Mansion Tom! 🙂

    God Bless!

    Prenin.

Yes, the Ladybirds want to get in now don’t they? Mind you, I don’t mind them. I don’t mind spiders, for that matter!
      Thanks, Prenin!

Lovely view! Positively delightful!! Almost as good as the view under our bath tub now the land lord has removed the panel…The plan is helpful cat will mow be able to catch and kill unwanted resident and very elusive rat who is regularly heard running along the back of the shower and bath pipes 🙂 Much more effective than the rat poison 🙂 The views under the bath tub would look great through your window!

Hope you’ve captured said rat, Icewolf, and sent him out into the cold, cruel world!
Please don’t give the Mansion any ideas… it can travel anywhere for those views…

It’s still loose Tom! I saw it last night, it was dark and it scared me out of my Wolfie wits till I realised what it was! Sorry to say if we do catch it no way will it be allowed to go back alive into the cold cruel world…it’s illegal to release rats, better if it easy a mouse…they’re allowed to live!

Where’s the cat? Make it earn its keep. My cat loves to check all nooks and crannies for spidies and bugs. Still, it IS getting to be that time of year and will be over soon. Right? 😮

The cat’s usually in the Grinds somewhere, Tess. Probably with the spiders…

No, that’s from the Vestibule, VK, the room that’s above the stairway to the Cellar…
All’s well, but no time for dusting, fortunately…!

31 years ago, when I was desperately hunting for the near impossible, an affordable Manhattan apartment, Tom, a real estate agent showed me a dark garret with this exact same dismal view. He warned me that the manager of the building was eccentric. When I met her in her dimly lit office for the interview, I encountered an elderly woman who sat shrouded in shadow at a desk behind a fence serving as a barrier that prevented visitors from approaching closer. A bench was positioned outside the fence. She ordered me to have a seat on the bench. That meant sitting with my back to her. It was very strange being interviewed behind my back. I thought I did well under the circumstances, but afterward she informed the agent that I could not have the apartment. I was so desperate that I was disappointed, but the agent, a very nice guy, seemed relieved. He assured me that it was to my advantage that she declined my application. He was so right! A few weeks later I found a well lit hovel through the New York Times, where I sit right now writing this comment.

It must have been weird being interviewed back to front and all, but what an interesting character to have ‘met’!
All things turn out good in the end, though, LA!
