Maribel

In the study
On the shelf
Sits Maribel
All by herself

On Hallowe’en
She takes a walk
To be close
To those who talk

To listen
Watch
But do no more

Such was the spell
Cast
Years before

Once a year
She comes alive
But passes time
With her silent cries

Okay, dolls are a little freaky to me, Tom. If I saw this one, I would hide. I love this Halloween spirit you have going on here on your blog.

Thanks, Amy… sorry for freaking you. Some dolls have the same effect on me as well.

This one looks a little scary Tom.. I have to say it reminds me of a horror film I once saw in the days the cinema was called the ‘pictures’ when my hubby then boyfriend took me to see a horror film.. I was scared for weeks… In it a Doll came to life… killing the family.. In fact every thing in the town was coming alive and not allowing anyone to leave…. A boys toy tank became a real one.. and well, rather not remember that bit.. .. Can’t remember the name of the film… But Dolls always bring back the haunting memory of it!

I think it’s the stillness of them Sue. Or the shape. To be honest, I don’t know what it is, but they are frightening, aren’t they?

Love that you doing Halloween all month, Tom.
Some dolls freak me out too. The one you go up there would be one of them.
The poem you wrote to go with the doll is perfect.

Now I’m going to have to take my doll I’ve saved since childhood and put it out of my house on Hallowe’en, Tom……..

Ulp. Sorry about that, Andra. Only put her out if she comes alive though… if she doesn’t, you’ll be OK…

Possessed? She looks positively fuming, VK! Good thing she remains locked in the Study (I hope).

Don’t trust her, Tom. She’s as innocent as Joan Crawford’s character in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? She’s a sly one.
    Fabulous poem, Tom.

Thanks, Tess. I haven’t seen the movie, but I can imagine what she was like. Maribel, probably!

I hope when she comes alive once a year that it’s on your side of the pond and not mine.

In short you couldn’t resist opening the door to hell under the mansion could you? 😉 And now everything will be possessed and freaky by Halloween night!

      It wasn’t that I couldn’t resist, Icewolf… but somebody/thing couldn’t…
