Today saw the first frosty morning of the winter.
Usually, things take a gradual approach, so one morning there would be a gentle covering of dew, then the next morning a subtle layer of ice, gradually getting thicker and heavier as the days pass by.
But no, not this morning.
Oh no, we may as well have been under a six foot snow drift, the frost was that severe. It took a good ten minutes to clear the top layer of set ice from the windows on the car, and then what seemed like a further hour on each window to chip away at the rest.
Obviously, it wasn’t that long, but it felt like it.
Moments before, I’d left the Mansion after turning the heating off, thinking as it was warm it wasn’t needed yet. Once outside, I realised why it was so warm. The heating was compensating for how cold it was outside.
So, the heating is on again now. And I’m ready for tomorrow morning.
We’ll probably have a heatwave.
