One Minute Ramble: No Fun No More

Sigh.

Due to all of the problems I’m (and lots of others are!) experiencing accessing blogs, commenting and replying to comments, I’m taking a temporary break from blogging.

The latest word on the street is that the problems are being caused by filters the ISPs are introducing, but, I feel, that is speculation at present… being one with sufficient computer knowledge to say so (not; but it sounded good!). According the the WordPress Support forum the problems are being investigated.

I’ll be back next week sometime to see how things go.

At this present time, I’m not enjoying the whole blogging experience, and if you don’t enjoy it, you shouldn’t do it.

I will be back soon, however, as I know that I’ll be missing all of your wonderful posts, thoughts and pictures. Missing you already in fact!

In the meantime remember to Feel Good!

OK, I’ve decided once again not to take a break, and persevere for the next few days at least.

The Support Forum is now saying things should now have been resolved… and although I’m still having problems, it may just be that things are taking a while to filter through.

I’ll see how things go for the next few days, and postpone – and hopefully cancel – my break!

I had problems a couple of weeks ago with all the comments I was leaving on blogs turning into spam, and I know several others were having that problem. But I seem to be all ok and unspammy now! Hope you find the fun again 😉

  Well, Sue, trying to have a break doesn’t seem to be working at the moment. And whilst things seem to be working, I’m taking full advantage of the up time to reply to comments! Hopefully, I’ll be finished by the time I lose connection again!

The internet is being taken over TL…The dark ones are trying to get a handle on all of us as too much TRUTH has been escaping and they can’t have that. Very sad indeed. It is getting harder and harder to move around online now. They keep freezing my computer screen every time I go on a page they don’t approve of so I have to shut down, lose all my stuff, get back on and start again. Very frustrating! For days as well I couldn’t preview anything I wrote on WP and couldn’t post anything without trying it ten times as well. These are the signs of the times I fear. Have a good break though and do enjoy a bit of summer before winter sets in. Hope to see you back soon….VK

  Something weird’s going on, VK, a very strange state of affairs if you ask me.
  It took me ten attempts to post this post this morning, but I got there in the end. I think it may take as many attempts for me to take a break as well… if things continue working, I may not need to.

  I’m trying to stay with it actually. When it works, it’s fine. It’s just that when it doesn’t work it’s frustrating. Hopefully, I’ll be able to reply to all of these comments before losing connection. I feel like I’m racing against time!!!

I nearly went Sir Aquatom, and you stopped me, so now it’s ok for you to desert the sinking ship eh? 😉 Sorry, couldn’t resist!! I’ve had a couple of days away, (mainly due to WiFi being down thunderstorm wise) and It’s hit and miss as to who I can post comments too. (By that I mean, I can’t remember who’s let me out of ASP prison, so the hit and miss lottery continues) As everyone else says, we shall miss thee, and thy updates, SO do not be away too long or else-eth. (or else-eth what you ask? um, I shall put my ‘flying jacket’ on and come to find you AND make myself an absolute nightmare of a visitor!!) Scared? Oh so thy shouldst be!!       Hey Sir A, by accident I commented on a new blog, I mistook the name Steve (well, so many about) and thought it was someone I was already following (I know, I know get to the point!!) BUT the comment posted, (held in moderation, but I could see it!!) so ,does this mean an end to all this palaver? eh? or just a glimmer to tempt me and drive me insane? Who knows? I live in hope. I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time, Tom. I’ve been having difficulties leaving comments in WordPress, too, and I’ve discovered the solution:

Write the comment as usual, highlight it, and press Ctrl-C to copy it. Then click the Post Comment button. If a page comes up saying “This comment could not be posted”, click the Back button to return to the page, and then press the F5 button to refresh the page. Paste your comment back into the comment box using Ctrl-V, and click Post Comment again. Usually the second time’s the trick, but sometimes it wants a couple of tries.

It’s a huge pain in the butt and I hope they have it resolved soon, but in the mean time that’s what’s worked for me.

Hope blogging turns back into fun for you soon.

  Thanks, Diane. I’ve been having problems with almost everything… a right nightmare!
  I’m currently replying to comments in the comments menu in the dashboard, and apart from having to hit reply about ten or eleven times to some comments, things seem to be going through OKish.
  When I visit your blog, I can like your post but need to log in to comment (when I usually get thrown out) so some things are still not working properly.
  I have been using your tip here… but the comment has remained in the reply box when the error occurs.
  Let’s see if this posts…
  Nope.
  Nope. Try again.
  error – try again.
  And again.
  And AGAIN!
  Sigh.

    Oh, grrr! Poor you, Tom – that must be incredibly frustrating! Maybe it’s something in your browser cache? But you’ve probably already tried clearing that – I’m sure you’ve tried everything by now.
    
    I’ve actually started running both IE and Firefox concurrently – what doesn’t work in one sometimes works in the other. I think IE must have made some changes recently, because it’s been doing some odd things. Maybe that’s part of your problem.
    
    Good luck – I hope you find some more enjoyable things to do than fighting with WordPress.

      I’m using Google Chrome, which has, on occasion, be problematic before, but not very often.
      The Support Forum now says the problem has been resolved, they’ve spoken to the ISP I’m with… but I’m still having the problem. Got the No Data message when I tried to reply here.
      At least I’m used to trying multiple times, Diane!!!

On this side of the pond, Tom, I have not noticed an problems, but I have not been around much because I have quite a lot going on outside the blogosphere at the moment. I hope the gremlins that are giving you a hard time pack up and leave soon. I also hope they don’t head over to the U.S.!

  Apparently.
