By the Cemetery Gates

The gates to the graveyard entrance were illuminated by two spotlights from above. They were also locked together by a rusty old chain and padlock, and had been locked for hours.

The rattling of the gates alerted a passer-by as to where he was, so he started to hurry passed. It was a calm night, with no wind at all.

The passer-by knew that it was his ethereal energy causing the gates to rattle. As it did for the spotlights to fade… and the dogs to howl…

The passer-by hurried back to his resting place,  where he’d been for centuries.

I think not too, VK… although they seem to not want to go through the gates for some reason…

A Ghostly tale indeed Tom.. Reminds me of a real one.. in the 80’s my hubby had to walk home from his work early in the morning around 6am.. In the winter mornings when it was dark and sometimes in the daylight, he passed .. It was when the pelican crossings were just going up all over the place over existing Zebra Crossings..
Several times as he approached the Crossing and it was in view for a good length of time the Pelican lights would beep and change… this happened not once but several times….As we had moved into the area in the late 70s we were not familiar with the history of the place…
He happened one day to tell a work colleague of the strange happenings… Where upon it was discovered a person was knocked down and killed on the Zebra some years previous…
So I wonder if the ethereal energy was pressing the wait button….

I hope you didnt mind the share..

    Great Post.. and picture Tom..

I don’t mind at all Sue! It’s a great tale.
There’s a crossing outside of those gates in that photo, which made your tale all the more spooky sounding to me! And, yes, I’d say that spirit likes that button – and is highlighting road safety as well!

I’m sure there must be others, Shree… he seems to get to the gates by himself though!
