Every now and then, I do a quick internet search for Aquatom. I used to do it with my real name, but gave up in the end as the same old results kept on being returned, for people who had absolutely nothing to do with me.
Not that I should be included in an internet search, I hasten to add. I’m not a celebrity, or a sportsman, I haven’t done anything news-worthy, I haven’t had anything published, I’ve not designed or invented anything, I’m not a politician, I’ve not done any kind of modelling (not that I should!), and I have nothing to do with banking, journalism or politics. Nor do I have a company by the name of Aquatom.
No, the real life me is an average pass in the street person who most definitely does not stand out from the crowd. My hair does at times, but the rest of me doesn’t.
Similarly, the same results were being returned for Aquatom (not, I hasten to add yet again, the same results as the real life me, but the same results every time for the Aquatom search). I initially found, much to my horror, that my username wasn’t as unique as I first wanted, and there is a company with the same name somewhere in the world. Fortunately, I also have the 1968 after my username, which separates me from this company even if it isn’t used in conversation.
I did another quick search yesterday, and another company by the name Aquatom has now cropped up, this time using an old avatar of mine as their company logo.
The logo / avatar is only a simple thing made up of the sun symbol from the Insert Shapes option in Power Point and a colour-gradient background, blue to black. Nothing spectacular, and, possibly, easy to be recreated by anyone around the world without even knowing that it was a ‘design’ that I had used at some point in the recent past. I chose that symbol as it was easy to recreate in my images of the costume for my on-line Aquatom Superhero persona, so that I didn’t have anything tricky to draw, like the Superman ‘S’ for example.
So, it is possible that this company Aquatom (of which I have nothing whatsoever to do with (nor have I with the other company of the same name)) could have created the same symbol with the same colours entirely by chance.
Coincidences do happen, I am very well aware of that fact. I don’t even mind the fact that the symbol is being used for the company – it’s being used for hundreds of other companies, although in different colours. It isn’t ‘my’ symbol, as in my creation, it’s merely one I chose to use.
But, I want to point out that the company has nothing to do with me whatsoever. If you find yourself viewing this site, instead of either of the companies’ sites (or more companies sites, if you’re reading this in a few years time), you are in the wrong place.
Please feel free to stay a while, and have a read whilst you are here… unless you’re in an urgent hurry to carry out your business, in which case, go back and click on the next link in your search engine!
I can’t put the links here, because I have nothing to do with the companies… and linking to them would connect me to them, which, in every way, I am not.
