Older on the inside?

Still on the subject of dreams, I had another one last night. I didn’t take to the skies, or the heights of any darkened corridor in this dream. I was grounded.

For some reason, I had visited an old place of work. The weather was dreadful. Well, to be honest, it was fantastic. Torrential, wet rain in a dream simply has to be refreshing, hasn’t it? Well, I think so anyway… and it was.

I had to park some considerable distance away from the office building, which could simply be a flashback to my time at this place of work in real life, as very often I had to use the ‘overflow’ car park that was a good ten minutes walk away. The dream started with me walking toward the office building, away from my car… I hadn’t parked up or anything (at least I don’t remember this anyway!)

I had with me an old identification pass from when I worked in another building, in a different part of the country, just in case I needed it. When I first walked into the building, I didn’t.

I walked up a flight of stairs (which were extremely well lit) and into what should have been an open-plan office. The office had been somewhat refurbished. Partition walls had been erected all over the place, and even extra support pillars were in place. These new ‘walls’ should have looked new (or new to me, as they weren’t there when I worked there), but they look surprisingly old. Far older than they should have looked. Some were rusty, some had broken windows, some had yellowed notices hanging off, and some had just the outlines of where notices had been. If people weren’t working in the building, looking at the walls on their own, you’d have said I was in a derelict building.

I met my old team, who were all still working together, which, in real life would be unlikely. I was chatting with my old supervisor, who was called away for some reason. She asked me to go with her, as she needed to show me the new part of the building, which was through a door beneath the bright staircase I had walked up earlier.

We took the lift down to the ground floor this time, though. On the ground floor, I was stopped by a familiar looking security guard. I recognised him as someone who used to work there when I did, but now he looked somewhat older. Not as old as the walls, but older than he should have looked too.

He asked to see my identification, although he remembered me from working there. He said that I shouldn’t really be in the building as I no longer worked there, but, as I was already in, and as I still had the old ID card, he would let me stay in.

However, during this delay, my supervisor had moved on. I was now surrounded by other people who had heard I was in the building, and had come to meet me. They were asking every day questions, such as what was I doing now?, and have I noticed any changes to the building since I had last been there?. It felt very strange having strangers asking questions as though they knew all about me. Almost as though I’d created some kind of reputation, and these people were seeing if I was living up to it. (That was the feeling I got, anyway!)

I remember at this point looking out of a window, out to the rain-drenched car park, with three or four others looking out with me.

I wasn’t aware that any work was actually being done. My team were sitting around a bank of desks together. The security guard seemed to appear from nowhere. The supervisor disappeared. And the strangers were all just milling about, not doing anything in particular.

Apart from everything being crystal clear, not a lot made sense.

I was expecting to see the office as it was when I last worked there, but it had changed. The changes were now old, and they themselves needed renovation. It was as though I had missed some considerable time between the first time I was in the building, and now. Which was true, but the interior of the building seemed to have aged a lot quicker than everything else. Two overlapping times in one place, perhaps?

I’m still trying to gather a meaning to my inside flying dream from yesterday, and now I have this chronal mash up to think about to.

The first dream featured people who I felt that I knew but couldn’t place them, and the second dream featured people who I knew that I didn’t know, but they knew me. Odd.

I’ll have to ponder this dream some more. I’m getting a feeling of perspective, or perception coming through. Maybe I need to start to look at things from a slightly different point of view. Maybe, as time is passing by so quickly at the moment, I’m feeling a little outside of time, outside of the flow of things – I know lately that I have felt the need to try to catch up. Or maybe, I’m missing something that has been with me through all of time, and I need to have another look to find clarity, answers or more questions…

Maybe tonight’s dream will fill in all of the blanks. I will have to wait and see!

always remember Tom: Frued said: “Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.”

Just enjoy your dreams and don’t over-analyse!!! 🙂

    God Bless!

Very true, Prenin, but being the inquisitive type I do tend to look a little too deeply into my dreams… I still enjoy them though (and trying to analyse them)!
Doctor Who said a footprint isn’t the same as a boot (or something like that – that popped into my head when I read your cigar comment for some reason!) 😀

It is said that those that wear spectacles need to wear them in bed to remember the people that they dream about, of course in practical terms this is a nonsense but hey who knows if it works or not? I do hope that you find the clarity that you are seeking Sir Aquatom 🙂

Have a fine rest of evening
and a wicked Friday my great friend…

Hi Andro, I don’t wear my spectacles to bed and I remember most people (or remember those I know and what those who I don’t know looked like…), but I haven’t wore my spectacles at any other time either since one of the lenses fell into a mysterious black hole in my living room never to be seen again.
I’m hoping the answers will reveal themselves very soon, I’m already embroiled in one quest for answers and having another one on the go seems a tad greedy!
Have a great weekend, Andro! 😀

Tom!! I had a similar dream!! And, I REMEMBER it. 🙂 I was going through one of those horrible brutalist government buildings to meet a former client. I went through endless corridors (like the Pentagram, I mean, -gon) and even walked through an office containing her boyfriend before finally reaching her. The conversation was strained and uncomfortable, and I woke up.

So, maybe this was the day to dream about workplaces, former workplaces, former clients or something like that.

Andra… you remembered your dream! Yay! 😀
Now, the next dream you will have is a flying one… but brace yourself… you will not be flying as you think you might do. But remember to remember it!
Dreaming of workplaces isn’t really much fun at all, but sometimes the setting, the people and the events don’t necessarily reveal the meaning of the dream… sometimes, however, they do!

I think you are circling towards it rather nicely. Perhaps the third installment should bring it altogether for you. If not, I will tell you what this one means as well.

Hi Red: The third installment wasn’t as clear as the other two… very stinted, if that makes sense… not flowing like the other two. Still, this ties in with your comment about limits I suppose.
I’ll be writing up the third dream in a short while, and trying to bring the pieces together…

Love your posting on dreams! I had one that just kept coming night after night. A little doll with a bell on top of a hat, floated through deep space past me. It wasn’t until I went to Forest Row and in the Post Office, that my dream suddenly ended. They were selling some very outdated Noddy Books! My brain was just trying to make sense of the imgage and once the connection was made..that was the last time I had that dream! Dream on and write one!

Thanks, Susan. I’d have classed a dream about a doll as a nightmare – not all dolls are scary, but there are quite a lot that are! Dolls and clowns. Eek!
It’s good how you managed to get to the bottom of your dreams though… had you seen the books before you started to dream, or was it after the dreams had began that you saw them?

So here’s my theory. The building represents you – or some aspect of your life, that you haven’t reflected on in some time. Since the last time you really thought about that aspect, you’ve learnt a lot and evolved in some way – what you believed or understood in the past has changed. That’s why when you re-enter the building, you see it has been renovated. But it’s still shabby – so its time for yet another overhaul. Conclusion: you are ready to grow and change in some aspect of your life – you’ll know what it is.

As for the people – they feel they know you, but you don’t know them and visa versa. I think that might be to do with our blogging community. None of us would recognise each in person, but we all know each other through blogs. Perhaps it’s the blogging and the interaction with bloggers that has triggered the changes, or the need to renovate the aspect of you that is represented by the building.

Of course, the problem with dream analysis is the only person who can really figure them out is the dreamer. But this is what it would have meant if It was my dream.

Hi Corisel… yes, you’re right, only the dreamer will know the true interpretation of their dream, but I find it fascinating to hear what others have to say about my (and other people’s) dreams.
I do feel as though I’m ready for some kind of expansion, I feel I want to move on (but how is a different thing entirely!) Change is everywhere at present – everyone is noticing it in different quantities, so maybe I could just be picking up these vibes from the wider world…
I love your theory about the people being bloggers – and you’re right – we know and yet don’t know our friends in Blogland. Very interesting take on things! 🙂

Oh, by the way, Tom – you were in MY dream the other week. I won’t take over your blog to describe it, but we were hanging out and discussing stuff – there were some other bloggers there too. It was a really cool dream in this kind of dystopian world with mini robots.

Maybe you could add a post about it on your blog at sometime? I’d be interested in reading about it! 😀

Aren’t dreams strange as our brains try to work things out without us getting in the way. Good luck. Rest peacefully.

I haven’t read all your pages to know whether you received more followup in your next dreams but you know you can have your dream interpreted for free from the School of Metaphysics, and you can learn more about dreams by joining their dream school.
Your dream recall is excellent – and it seems you are really trying to understand more and more about yourself from the things I have read on your blog. Keep going — it’s worth it. Love and Light….

Hello, thanks for popping by and commenting! Nice to meet you!
I can’t remember all of my dreams in as much detail, but I do remember quite a lot of them. I keep meaning to go back over the previous posts I have written about my dreams, to see if a theme runs through them, but each dream is slightly (and oddly) different.
I’ve never heard of the School of Metaphysics before, and I will certainly be looking into them in – thanks for the mention! 🙂
