Time is a funny old thing.
Sometimes, we have so much to do there just isn’t enough of it. At other times, when we have nothing to do, and time is in abundance, we always find the time to do something else other than what we need to do… or, I do anyway.
This ‘time’ we find to do something else in is no different to the time that we have either too much or too little of. It is always there, it never changes, and when we are doing something else other than what we should be doing, the time is still the same.
In fact, we don’t actually find the time at all. It’s just there. We simply rearrange everything else we are doing to fit more in.
So, this morning I find myself with plenty of time. Oodles of the stuff.
I’ve found the time to twiddle with my thumbs, for instance. Twiddling with one’s thumbs is something someone is said to do when they are waiting for something, or bored. Well, I wasn’t waiting or bored, but just twiddled my thumbs for sheer devilment. Well, I had the time!
I’ve also found the time to play chess on the computer, against the computer. I always win. I always manage to turn back time in the game and go back a step when I make a wrong move, and then make a better one. Some may consider this as cheating, but it isn’t. It’s my way of learning how to play chess. I don’t play very well, so playing this way against the computer gives one of my egos the boost it needs, teaches me to think ahead a little more, and also allows me to win. As well as playing chess on the computer, I’ve also played one or two card games. I don’t always win at these, but try my best. I’m not really very good with computer games. I always had trouble with Pac-Man back in the day. I never won at Pac-Man.
Moving on, I’ve found the time to pop some washing into the machine, and do a pile of laundry. Well, put the washing in anyway.
I’ve looked through a few books that I want to read again, I’ve found my Tarot cards that I want to start reading (and learning!) again, I’ve discovered a book of facts of the world that I’d long forgotten I owned, so had a good flick through the pages there. I’ve come across some Angel Oracle cards which I’ll have a look through for positivity. And, I’ve even rediscovered my manual for modern witchcraft, which I also had a quick browse through.
I’ve even found time to comment on a few blogs, which considering I don’t normally have any time at all, this is a bit of a novelty.
However, my intention was that should I ever have any spare time, I’ll write a few posts for this blog. Just some to keep to one side, for the time that I don’t have any time.
So, on the morning I have all the time I need, what do I do? Everything else but! Typical.
Actually, time isn’t a funny old thing – I am! And I’m not even that old yet!
I said in my post yesterday that one of the things I must improve is / are my time management skills. Although I’ve done a lot in the time before I started writing this post (10.30am) I’ve actually done something else too. I’ve noticed how I’m using my time, and what I’m doing in it. OK, I’m not doing what I wanted to do, but it’s a start.
All things considered, I’ve used the time that has been available to me so far today quite well. And, as it is not even 11am yet, I shall now go and have another game of chess… no cards… no, I’ll put more washing in… no I’ll…
