Please consider this as my notice of termination.
As much as I have enjoyed writing my thoughts, waffling on about my dreams, and typing generally about, well, nothing in particular, I always knew that it wouldn’t last. There have been times when I couldn’t type fast enough to get the ideas down, and there were other times when the ideas were not flowing at all. This letter has been on my mind all day today, so it is one that I simply have to write as today’s post.
Blogging is a funny old game. One moment I’m embroiled in the life of one person, and in the next moment I’m in the mind of another. I’m happy for one person, concerned for another, and touched by another, just by reading their words on their blogs. Information is coming in from all angles, from every corner of the world. Fascinating facts about things I, and quite possibly thousands of others, have never heard of are being shared in very different and very entertaining ways. And then it ends. The blog stops for whatever reason.
Life has other plans for every single blogger on the planet – blogging isn’t a full time occupation in itself, so it stands to reason that blogs will, from time to time, be overlooked for more important issues that arise in the blogger’s life. The same can be said for me, although, up until now, I have always tried to put a couple of hours to one side just for this blog. And that was my choice. And, although I have just said it, I enjoy doing it. When something is not enjoyable, there is no point continuing doing it.
So, the reason for this letter of resignation.
One day, this blog will come to an end. Not a great revelation in the grand scheme of things compared to the vastness of the Universe, but I want to let everyone know that I intend to stop posting on this blog. I have some regular readers and visitors, who, although I don’t know in person, feel as though they, you, are my friends, and I feel it fitting to let you all know about this.
I’m not stopping blogging straight away, in fact, I’m hoping to continue blogging for as far as I can into the future. I am enjoying blogging at this present time, so I have no desire to stop doing so, but I feel obliged to my regular visitors to say a quick “Thank you” and a cheery “Farewell for now!”, just in case the day comes when I say to myself “That’s it, enough already! Time for the next phase.” and don’t post a word on my blog that day…
Throughout my last year of blogging, I have mentioned quite a lot of events, ‘people’, places, things and times that have had a particular resonance with me. Some of these topics haven’t reached their natural conclusions, and I feel it is only fair to finish their stories before ending or closing the blog. Of course, this may mean that other threads may be started over time too, but hopefully, everything will be nicely tied up by the final day of posting.
Everything happens for a reason. Being introduced to blogging allowed me to express myself in a way I have never been able to do so before. I have been able to write about my innermost thoughts and feelings without any fear of resentment, condemnation or ridicule, which is something I can not do in my real life. I can release thoughts into the universe that I would have otherwise have carried around with me, and allowed them to fester and blacken my very soul. I have a certain amount of freedom in blogging, whereas I feel kind of trapped in my real world.
So, visitors to my blog, readers of my words and friends from around the world, can I say once again thank you for taking the time to pop into my world, even if it is just to look at a picture, I appreciate your visit. For those who comment, I appreciate your visits all the more so (and I send you an extra special boost of Feel Good Positivity just for your visit!)
If I do stop posting soon, I’ll still be around, and visiting those blogs that I regularly visit. I don’t think that I’ll be stopping posting anytime soon, but being pre-warned is better than nothing.
As I said in the first line, please consider this as my notice of termination, but with an open-ended termination period.
Thank you for reading.
