Flimsy Alibi

Yes, I remember it perfectly, the day, the afternoon, yes it was raining, no, sorry, it was sunny, yes, that’s it… I remember the day perfectly, almost.

I was out walking my dog, Tiddles, along the river bank – there was a boat race on and one of the rowers, there were four I think in each – are they called galleons, them long thin things with four rowers… I’ll call them galleons, I don’t think that’s right now, but – anyway, one of them looked over to me as I shouted the dog who’d wandered off into the undergrowth. He did more than look, he glared at me… I was only shouting Tiddles… I can’t see his name being Tiddles as well, but maybe it was… I hadn’t thought of that until now… so Tiddles, my Tiddles, not the rower, was in the undergrowth and was trying to pull the large blue sack out.  Why, I don’t know because it was empty, maybe Tiddles liked the colour blue.

Bag… I meant bag… sorry, but box or bag, thet were both empty and soaking wet because of the rain, just like me and Tiddles.

It isn’t a hollow tale at all… I was there shouting the dog and accidentally sent £1.00, sorry, I mean shouted the rower as well… the £1.00 was for something else… we then found that large blue box and hauled it out of the overgrown undergrowth and there was nothing in it.

Posted for Six Sentence Stories. This week’s prompt word is Hollow.

I’m intrigued… mostly about the bag that could’ve been a box, but most likely wasn’t a sack… but also intrigued about the purported non-sending of the pound, and the non-hollowness of it all…
