Phased Existence

Stuck in the Basement, in the early Alternative Mansion, I realised I was in a bit of a pickle. The Staircase took me lower down when I climbed it, and the opposite is impossible as one cannot climb down a set of stairs when one is at the bottom, regardless of how creative one is.

I decided to venture around the Basement, actually the Catacombs, as there’s always something else to discover, and maybe one of those something elses is a way up… or a way out, which would be even better.

Fortunately or not, I found the Laboratory, door unlocked and wide open, which normally wouldn’t be a problem, but given the time of year, the scale of the problem raises exponentially. That said, the Laboratory is an ideal place to search for something to provide a possible answer to the predicament I’m in. I walked in through the doorway, flicked the light switch, and felt the most immense magical electric energy surge through my body, forcing my eyes to close – but before they did I saw the Laboratory begin to phase out of existence.

Posted for Six Sentence Stories. Denise’s prompt word this week is Surge.
