To Be Continued

It burns within, this passion.

The urge, the fire, the need to create.

A spark triggers a thought, that triggers a line, that leads to a paragraph, a page.

The joy of being carried along as words paint a picture, build a world, create a lifetime.

Sometimes, however, it isn’t easy as blocks get in the way, corners are reached, there’s no way – no, there’s always a way.

And if all else fails, take a break… a to be continued never really hurt anything, did it?

    sometimes letting the newly created world settle into place is not such a bad thing… if valid it will be there when you return (and if really valid, you will see more than you believed you created the first time)

    I envy writers/poets like Leonard Cohen who slaved away at their craft day after day putting in the work and perspiration till they were satisfied they could do no more. I on the other hand write the first thing that comes into my head, as Clark puts it, seat of the pants writing.

    No, it didn’t Tom. Breaks are often needed. Sometimes a break may allow you to stumble on the necessary machete to hack your way through to the story you know is waiting in the underbrush. So they say.
