Rumblings

Professor Aggarra walked along the path quickly, eager to get to his car before the rain started – not that the brilliant sunshine he was walking through gave any indication of rain. He paused to look at a tree which was oddly covered in scorch marks; each of the marks had a very defined central burn with lesser markings around them radiating outwards. A rumble of thunder dragged his attention away from tree as he looked up to the clear blue sky overhead. The rumbling continued, only this time it was beneath him – the ground was shaking. A high pitched humming from behind him caused him to look at one of his colleague’s storage buildings, as said colleague and his young apprentice came running out. By the time they’d reached Aggarra, the building had collapsed and a stone pyramid was rising from the ground.
