A Long Long Time Ago Just Before Dawn

“Husband, you are beneath the stars again,” Queen Ellimayee held her palms upright beside her shoulders, just as she noticed King Rabletop III staring blankly into the space in front of him, “what in the name of the Gods Before The Nile are you doing?”

“Shush, wife,” Rabletop commanded in a whisper, “I am awaiting a sign from the Messenger of Light… they will provide me with details of my next project.”

“But husband,” Ellimayee whispered in return, “you have seven hundred and four unfinished projects on the go as it is… your circular pyramid needs floors… the study in the Palace of the Sands needs the palms rearranging… the peg on the wall in the living room needs fixing… and the camels need their hooves tending… to name a few.”

“You are right in what you speak, wife,” Rabletop said, as he noticed Ellimayee’s face starting to shine brightly, “let us return to the Palace, sleep, and then attend to those projects.”

They walked into the Palace, unaware that a bright light descended behind them, and a large-eyed being stepped out of the craft it contained as it landed. The being brought a sinewy wrist with a light bracelet up to its mouth, ‘the contact is not here,’ it spoke with a musical chime, ‘we must pass the Message of Enlightenment onto the second chosen one…’; the messenger returned to the craft which disappeared within its bright light and swiftly floated away into the early morning sky.
