Cobbleton Slope

The Medieval town of Cobbleton Slope, pronounced ‘slop’ back in the day, is a picturesque place, hardly changed over the years.

No I tell a lie.

The town council decreed the streets would be no thoroughfare for any contraption on wheels except ye olde wheelbarrowes.

And so it remained until earlier today.

The restriction now excludes bicycles, and the first bike rode the cobbled streets, lanes, avenues, roads and ginnels just after the motion was passed.

The mayor said ‘riding the bicycle was fine, but a very uncomfortable experience due to the Slop’s thousands of uneven cobbles.’

He will be tabling a motion for the cobbles to be smoothed over at the next meeting.

So soon, the Slop’s second street amendment will alter the town’s appearance completely.

Already the residents have taken to their barrows to complain.

I know what you’re saying, Icewolf… one has to be careful in Medieval towns.
