The Unicorn Challenge: Spoonfed Symphony

‘What are they?’ Ellis asked, looking at the bright mural painted on the garage door.

‘Spoons.’ Howard replied, proudly.

‘Spoons?’ Ellis leant in for a closer look.

‘Spoons.’ Howard frowned as he folded his arms whilst squarely looking into Ellis’s eyes.

‘Aren’t they a little fat for spoons?’ Ellis tilted her head. ‘And why are they in suits?’

‘They’re artistic spoons,’ Howard tutted, ‘look, they’re playing musical instruments.’

‘The one on the end isn’t.’ Ellis pointed out.

‘He’s the vocalist.’ Howard unfolded his arms.

‘They look more like eyes.’ Ellis wasn’t giving up.

‘Have you ever seen an eye playing a musical instrument?’ Howard scoffed.

‘No,’ Ellis answered, ‘but I also haven’t seen a spoon playing one either.’

‘But they are spoons.’ Howard repeated. ‘Musical spoons.’

‘Musical spoons! Of course!’ Ellis clicked her fingers. ‘I get it now!’

Howard was about to walk inside when Ellis stopped him.

‘Why have you painted musical spoons on your garage door?’ She asked.

‘Just to see the reaction.’ Howard smiled.

‘Reaction?’ Ellis thought for a second. ‘What kind of reaction?’

‘This kind.’ Howard chuckled. ‘The questions. The confusion.’

‘The confusion?’ Ellis confused herself. ‘About the spoons?’

‘Oh, yes!’ Howard looked smug. ‘That confusion is like music to my ears.’

‘If that’s the case,’ Ellis looked at the ‘face’ part of the spoons, ‘shouldn’t they look more like ears then?’

‘No,’ Howard decided enough was enough, ‘they’re spoons. Musical spoons. No need to make a song and dance about it.’

“Yes, spoons” is the correct response Ellis should have made on line three.
I have a feeling they have a similar conversation every day. 🙂

My reply to this comment went onto the next comment. Just proves that never a true word is said in jest! That Dazed and Confused song started out quite bluesy and quickly changed (in my opinion… I think!)

        Go figure! 🤷🏼
You’re not wrong; there’s a lot going on in that song. That’s the magic of Led Zep!
