The Lady lounged in her luxurious bubble bath in her suite on the top floor of the Elixir Spa Resort Hotel and Leisure Complex, with soft gentle music playing in the background, and the heart-shaped bathtub vibrating gently, massaging her already relaxed shoulders.
She put her head back onto the soft, pillow-like edge of the bath, took a sip of her Elsingham champagne, returned the glass to the stand beside the bath and closed her eyes. Her mobile phone screeched on the stand, totally destroying the moment.
Grumbling, she climbed out of the bath, wrapping herself in a white robe, and looked at the phone’s display: The Dropped Apostrophe.
‘I’m off duty, what do you…’ she was interrupted by the Apostrophe’s anxious voice saying, ‘it’s only me… I’m just making sure that everything is in order for our new guests when they arrive.’
‘Apostrophe,’ The Lady didn’t hide her frustration, ‘as I told you in the restaurant earlier, and then in the corridor, and then when you called the room telephone forty-five minutes ago, this is a hotel, it isn’t only a ‘lair’, it is a working concern, and as such everything is in order… the rooms are available, ready and waiting for the next guest… the next twenty… the next fifty… now stop asking me, please, and let me enjoy my night off’; not waiting for another word she switched the mobile off and unplugged the landline’s main socket from the wall.
