Not to Scale


That’s a heavy lizard, Elgwynne cackled as she scooped Estradamous off the plate on the covern scales. Estradamous hissed, clawed, and shrieked at being handled, preferring very much to be left in his own space. He spat fiery venom onto Elgwynne’s left cheek in annoyance, causing her artificial synthetic skin to melt away, revealing the yellow scaled skin beneath that she tried very hard to conceal. I’m only weighing you, my pretty, she said as she gently placed the greenscale onto the cold stone floor. Estradamous quickly scaled the worktop and skulked into his box in the corner of the candle-lit kitchen, where he licked his scaly clawed paw. And you’ve broken the scales, she trilled (out of tune) as she saw the digital readout showing 888…
