Choice

The fork in the road

May lead to the road less travelled

‘Though destiny calls

As fates conspire

The journey ahead

May be smooth or jagged

But a choice must be made

With a fork in the road

I was walking yesterday evening and literally saw a broken fork in the road. I took it as a metaphorical message. Everything we do / see / hear involves a choice at some point… whether to go on, go back, or stop, or whether to do something completely different instead. We may not necessarily make the right choice to begin with, but further along the path will come the time to make another choice. Just keep an eye open for the forks in the road… or put your own there, if need be – the choice is yours!

Always, the choice is yours Tom, โ€ฆDestiny certainly calls, whichever route you take, wherever you end up, you chose to be there. Loved the poetic description, โ€ฆand mayhap a compass could aid in both our travelsโ€ฆโœจPennโœจ

We merely need to keep moving forward, Penn. Although a compass may be useful if we had a map as well! ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ™‚

Maybe a moral compass aids us in our forward motion , โ€ฆlike an inside guide, and the map? โ€ฆI wonder if theyโ€™re handed out at the start of our journey, and we mislay itโ€ฆhopefully Iโ€™ll find it in that wardrobe, โ€ฆโœจPennโœจ

Quite possibly, Penn, mind you, it’s probably all been upgraded to an integrated satnav system nowadays.

Interesting picture you chose for the fork in the road….Nothing pointed or jagged so I guess you chose to go around the circle and start again? VK ๐Ÿ™‚

It was a deliberate choice, VK… focusing on the ‘choice’ rather than the choice to be made.

I hope that makes sense… it makes sense in my head, but it kind of fails when put into words! ๐Ÿคฃ

This is wonderful, Tom โ€“ insightful yet questioning. An interesting choice of graphics as well.

In a town close to me there stands a statue of a 7′ fork in the road. It’s quite brilliant and I’ve been trying for a while now to take a photo of it but it’s located on a busy road with no place to park or even stop. This one requires a passenger with their camera at the ready!

Thanks, Nancy… I tried to focus on the choice, rather than the options to choose from, with the image.
Your fork in the road seems more impressive than the one I saw… although mine, had I so wished, would have been rather easy to photograph! ๐Ÿ™‚

I had to make a choice today…that was a difficult fork in the road! The choice to buy or not to buy a pair of shorts for a holiday…I chose to purchase…it remains to be seen whether this was a good choice or even if I will risk wearing them…my legs are frighteningly white ๐Ÿ˜€ and rarely see the light of day let alone be flashed in public!!๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜…

      Decisions, decisions! ๐Ÿ™‚
At least by wearing the shorts, your legs may not be as ‘frighteningly white’ for long! ๐Ÿฆต ๐Ÿฆต (However, these legs look like wonky champagne glasses ๐Ÿฅ‚ , so best not to listen to me! ๐Ÿ˜Š)

A random burst of inspiration, Chris… all from a discarded fork! ๐Ÿ™‚
