Consequences

I’m back here again… in this out of time place surrounded by modern and futuristic buildings. Should neon signs and 1930s cars look right together, both oddly shrouded in shadow yet clearly visible, when one looks on with intent?

What are the consequences when time collides like this? When realities merge, fiction, fact, future, past and present, seen and unseen, all become one with the environment.

This Surreal Reality we live in is adaptable, changeable, morphing into whatever it is we think we are seeing. Is it possible to become permanently lost in our perceived worlds as we try to understand the actual reality out there?

It’s Six Sentence Stories time again, and this week, Denise from Girlie on the Edge , has provided ‘Consequences‘ as the prompt word.

My Epic Mythology series will appear again in due course, with intermittent parts contributing to the overall story as time goes on, instead of as a weekly series. And this will allow me to write short one-off pieces (which may or may not be continuations of previous stories, and which may or may not be continued in the future). I think ‘fluid’ is the word. I’m going with the flow, regardless!

    Very strong “Inception-esque” vibes.
    Ride the wave, my friend.

I’ve been here before – in and out – just as you said. Wow. πŸŒƒ

It’s like being trapped and free at the same time, Chris, wouldn’t you say? πŸ€”

All I can say is that it’s strange. πŸ€¨πŸ˜„

Good point in the last sentence: we might become permanently lost in our perceived worlds and miss what is actually out there.

Although, Frank, sometimes our perceived worlds are much better than what’s out there! πŸ˜ƒ

    Yes.
    It is.

For those of us who spend more than a curious moment (usually in the company of others ) in this place, this blogosphere.
To paraphrase an old cigarette commercial: ‘You can take a writer out of the virtual world, but you can’t take the virtual out of the person stranded in the real world.’

Ah, just because we think it’s real, is it true? The monsters under the bed are real to the child, but in truth, they are not there.

That’s a very valid point, Mimi.

Cool post Tom….consequences for everything sooner or later….but I do like the meeting of times and the pic which is very atmospheric. And yes, old and modern make a great contrast of time and place!

I remember you liking this image the last time I posted it, Icewolf. I wonder if it would be as ‘moody’ if it was lighter… or in colour? πŸ€”

Yea! I was 99% sure it was the same one but would have felt a bit silly if I was wrong! I remember the post and the picture has stayed in my head ever since, sparking various half-baked ideas! It would be interesting to see it in colour, but even if it was only lighter I don’t think it would be anywhere near as effective as it is in b/w. Depends on what one was trying to achieve and the context it was used in I would say. Either way, good to see it again! Still sparks the old imagination πŸ˜‰

I’ll see if I can find the original, and tweak it a little to see if it alters the feelings any. πŸ–Œ 🎨 πŸ–Œ

            Oooh! Yes!
I think you tweaked my laptop last night too! The “N” and “K” letters and and keys have gone totally u responsive even on the onscreen keyboard. No idea why. Hoping a restart will reset them but forgot to check last night after updates. Otherwise will have to try external keyboard…or scrap the laptop for writing purposes! Maybe it’s a feature of laptops that can’t upgrade to W11πŸ€”Very weird, it was fine up till last night. Better keep the phone charged! It was dead battery last night when I needed it for commenting…so! If you could give a little tweak to my keyboard software that would be great too! πŸ‘

              There! Did that work?
It seems odd that the onscreen one went wonky too, though… the update should work, methinks. πŸ€”

It was very odd – I assume a software glitch since the on screen one wasn’t responding either and not just the physical keys.πŸ€” It’s good to go again now. Thanks for the tweak!🀣 It does odd things anyway, it long since disappeared the control for connecting to the mobile Internet device so have to plug device into laptop to connect. Common problem it seems to which nobody has a solution! Been known to reappear occasionally but vanishes again when laptop switched off, never to be seen again! If you could tweak that too, that would be handy!!πŸ˜‚

      Gah!!! Software glitches.
I created my own glitch today with my site. Think it’s almost sorted now.
