The Purge

I’m still taking a semi-blogging break, which means I’ll sometimes be here, and other times I won’t be, as I’m somewhere else!

I had a spare couple of hours, so I finally decided to do a bit of housekeeping with the blog that I’ve intended to do for a while, but never got around to doing it. Hopefully, it’ll make things a little easier for me for when I return to blogging after the break, and hopefully keep more ‘on top’ of the sites I follow.

Up until now, I’ve been following 276 blogs, some of which haven’t been updated for many a month (rather, year), and some of which I have sadly had no interaction with the people behind the blog.

In a ‘tidying up’ exercise, I’ve removed (so therefore unfollowed) 130 blogs. This won’t really have an effect on my Reader itself (especially where the blogs haven’t been updated since the dawn of time), although it may be an issue if one of the unfollowed bloggers decides to start again. The main reason for doing this is the Reader itself. It only shows 96 blogs in my followed list, so it isn’t easy to just pop over to one of the bloggers I haven’t seen for a while, especially if they aren’t included in the 96, only to find they haven’t updated since the fourth century BC.

Now comes the point of this post. I may have accidentally removed a blog or two that is still active, so if I have, could I ask a small favour? If you notice I’ve not been around for a while, and you know I follow you, could you have a quick peek at your followers list to see if I’m there? If not, could you let me know in the comments and I’ll refollow you.

If I am still following you, and haven’t been around in a while it may just be your posts haven’t been in my Reader when I’ve been in the Reader… I’m limited for time, hence the need for the blogging break in the first place, so I could just be missing you. Sorry about that… we’re merely ships that pass in the night!

There are a few other blogs in my list that are ‘pending deletion’, to put it harshly… these are bloggers that I hope will return, and I don’t want to send them away just yet.

The next thing on my blogging to do list is to revamp my ‘blogs I follow’ page… but I’ll leave that for when I’m on another blogging break. And then, update my Gravatar/icon thingy. What do you mean, again?

Hi Tom, I am an erratic blogger as I’ve been working on my 10th book (waiting a publisher, ha ha), but I have managed a new one this week if you fancy a peek: https//joylennick. wordpress.com/ Gracias!

      Tenth book?! Congratulations! 😀
I’m still working on my first (in my mind!) and practicing my writing with my blog posts (but currently taking it a bit easier of late!)
I’m still following you, Joy, so that’s good. I’ve commented on your post. 🙂

I’m wondering if this is really you, Tom, or one of your evil twin brothers holding you hostage. I remember all those avatar pics that looked like you months ago. Makes me suspicious. I am sure your followers would gladly pay the ransom to set you free. Or maybe a disinfectant to tidy things up a bit. 😉

No, it’s really me, Ladysighs, and not a replacement following a terrible kidnapping. I’m still trying to find my ideal avatar, just haven’t changed the image of late… it will be changing again soon however.
Donations and disinfectant are always gratefully received! 🙂

Thanks, Val. It isn’t very noticeable, but it feels tidier! 🤣

Ah, housekeeping. Always a bit of a chore; but it feels good when it’s done! Have a pleasant break, Tom – see you when you’re back. 🙂

I’m dipping in and out, Diane, and I’ve just dipped back in again now! 😃
Things will feel even better when everything’s sorted, but there’s no rush.
      And thank you. 🙂

Hi Tom, enjoy the little pauses and breaks! Blogging isn’t easy is it when you try to be interactive and keep up with other blogs as well as adding content to your own. Then there’s the housekeeping as you say… a chore but satisfying when done 😊

      Hi Ford, yes, I agree!
Although sometimes even blogging breaks are problematic! 🙄😊
