Standing on one leg with our heads tucked under our arms… what seems odd for one is perfectly normal for another!

Here’s the proof why humans get married. We need a partner to scratch those places on our back where our fingers don’t reach.

Talk about a stiff neck!!! I can’t see any relaxation in this sleep pose. Just standing on one leg would be difficult for very long. More power to them! I’ll take laying down thank you very much! VK

It’s safe to say they don’t always do this lying down, VK! 🤔 I think I’m mixing up a saying there…

It is extraordinary how they do it – but as you say normal for one is odd for another.

They always keep an eye open, so I suppose they can’t be too relaxed. Maybe this… erm… keeps them on their toes!!! 🤣

Godwits do the same with one eye open

It’s all normal for them, though.

If I tried that I’d topple over and my beak would get stuck in the ground!

Exactly… sometimes, though, I have the same issues with being human.

Are you saying you can’t do that? I thought everyone could!

Not me Frank… sometimes standing on two legs causes an issue!

I gave up standing on one leg a while ago. Balance just isn’t what it used to be .

A wise choice, Beverly. I stand briefly on one leg regularly, but only if I’m walking somewhere! That sometimes seems to be too much!

I’m glad we don’t sleep like that, too! I’m getting a kink in my neck just thinking about it. 🙂

I suppose it gives their necks a rest, Diane, and stops them leaving their heads draped across the ground. It’s the standing on one leg which is all the more baffling… they can lay down!

Thanks Eugenia. Yes, the critters do allow for some good photos to be taken at times!
