The rhythm took me one way
My legs went the other
The swirling lights were startling
Making it seem tougher
I arched my back in elegance
Through strains of music loud
And I don’t think anyone noticed
When I tumbled to the ground
Told you: a very quick dance for Saturday.
Posted in response to Eugenia’s weekly prompt, Dance.
The picture is not mine. Eugenia selected the image Dance of Life that ‘Skywalker678’ uploaded to Lovethispic.com.
Posted also for Debbie’s Six Word Saturday.
And also for Frank’s post, Dance.
Just a nudge that you’ve left this on the wrong post, Tom! You’ve put it on Debbie’s skware 🙂 🙂

Sigh. I’m totally out of sync this morning. Thanks, Jo.
I’ve corrected the error… I don’t think anyone will notice… 😀

I was all by myself, Ladysighs, which is a good thing. I don’t dance in company! 🤣

Love the image, wonderfully colorful. Your words remind me of a time in the past when I was dancing one moment, and fallen of the floor in the next. I was about 19 at the time. Can’t dance anymore, but the last time I did, it was with my favorite Auntie, and we both needed canes to do so. We were laughing so hard, we had to sit down to catch our breath. Thank you for the memory.

I was named after her and was the wee flower girl at her wedding. She passed away a few years ago and I miss her. So thanks again for the memories….

My pleasure, Eugenia. This is entirely fictional, I must add. Ahem. 😊

For me, I like the way you used the image to structure your poem – but that the surprise ending made me laugh. Thanks for linking me (which was a pleasant surprise). I invite your readers to stop by. Thanks, Tom!

My chair dancing is foot tapping, Chris. Bad, out of step tapping, but it’s still tapping! 😁

We all dance to a different beat, yet still dance to the same music. 🙂 ❤
