All Year Horror

Hello my darlings,
How are you?
I have a message; maybe two
Listen carefully to what I sayโ€ฆ
When I call and your telephone rings
Let me speak, let me sing,
Hear my voice and then allow me
Access to your own PC
Thereโ€™s a problem on the line that I must fix,
This is no scam, I have no tricks.
You must provide me with your password and pin
You know, just so that I can get in
To check your accounts are all fine, above board
We donโ€™t want to disconnect your internet, Iโ€™m sure.
Itโ€™s to check itโ€™s all OK and, oh yes,
I have a parcel for you today
We can deliver it tomorrow if youโ€™re in
Please confirm your address again
Hello? Are you there,
My name is Pam
I know I sound just like a man
But no, its your line you seeโ€ฆ
Iโ€™m from your phone company, you can trust me

Not all scammers are foul-mouthed and rude individuals, although most are if their call doesnโ€™t go their way. They are nowadays trying other tricks to gain access to homes, computers, moneyโ€ฆ anything they can get their hands on, really.

Be very careful and alert when answering calls from numbers you donโ€™t know โ€“ landline, mobile, out of area, international or withheld. They will try anything. Even under threat of massive fines, they are still at it. If anything sounds too good to be true, it more than likely is – do not be conned. Do not fall victim to this diabolical and evil section of society who will most certainly burn in hell for their actions.

Mwahaha!

Normal, light-hearted Halloweโ€™en posts will resume shortly, I just wanted to attempt to bring home a modern day horror story that occurs day in day out all year long. Reminders are always useful, I find.

They need to come back, Beverly. Maybe modernised, but totally different to today! ๐Ÿ˜€

We get those kinds of calls so often. And you’re right, Tom, they get very shirty if you don’t play along. We have even had some ring back! And then there’s the txt messages on the mbl offering all kinds of lucrative deals and prizes….

Best to always keep alert, Raili. They will always try to find new ways of scamming.

Timely warning. Everyone is a scammer until proven otherwise.

It’s amazing what some of these scammers will try, isn’t it? We avoid the phone ones by not having a landline now, but you still have to be on your guard for the emails ones.

And they send text messages to mobiles, Elaine. One caught me out this way a few years ago… but NEVER again! ๐Ÿ˜€

Great poem to alert us of those scammers Tom.. I have one who rings regular… Who went to great lengths… to no avail… Another who was from overseas wanted to do a survey I pretended to be my sister, and old lady who was hard of hearing, who kept saying pardon, can you repeat that… And when asked a question would give a ridiculous answer to the questions, it was a while before they cottoned on, and they were the ones who put the phone down.. ๐Ÿ™‚
This was a tip I got from my phone company, as I rang them to complain I was still getting calls… He was a very nice man, who said its their money, their call, and if you treat them like a joke you don’t feel so threatened.. True words..

It’s just the time they waste that is so annoying, Sue, isn’t it?
I don’t answer any calls from numbers I do not know now. I have voicemail so they can leave a message if they need to. If they don’t, and then continue to call I simply block the number.

    Hi Tom!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ โค

Yes, they DO try don’t they? ๐Ÿ™‚ โค

I always enjoyed it when they called and tried to fool me! ๐Ÿ™‚ โค

It was soooo easy to play the Gormless old victim, string them along and then have ‘problems’ with the phone line.

I would then ring off, report and bar that particular number and wait for them to call back, then repeat the process until they ran out of numbers! 3:)

At other times I would chat with them and get them all hot and eager (usually a young woman) and get called back by a guy who went through his spiel and tried to be Oh So convincing, telling me my IP address was being used in other countries to scam people, or my broadband router had been hacked and was being used to send Spam, or my PC needed checking for Malware etc.(Your IP address is unique to you and CANNOT be used by anyone else, your Router CAN be hacked if it is a very old model, but all you have to do to fix it is turn it off, then on again and – not needed on modern Broadband routers – change the default password from Admin to something more complex, but it lacks the memory to create and send spam, and NEVER let anyone have access to your PC, even if it is a call from God Himself), then asked me if I was near my PC.

I would say: “No not at the moment.”

And he would say: “Would you go to it and turn it on.”

    And I’d say:”Sorry I can’t do that it’s in my office.”

And he’d say: “Where are you at the moment?”

    And I’d say: “At home.”

You could practically feel his heart sink into his boots!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ โค

After a bit they changed tactics, so I changed mine.

My answerphone now has the following greeting: “Thank you for calling BNFL. Our senior neutron catcher is out at the moment. Please leave your message after the beep.”

I then got ‘automated’ Messages from HMRC saying my company was being investigated for Tax irregularities and to press ‘1’ to talk to the Officer handling the case!!! LoL!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ โค

    Who are BNFL?

British Nuclear Fuels Limited. ๐Ÿ˜€ โค

When asked for my office phone number I’d give them the number of Rochdale Police! ๐Ÿ˜€ โค

    Aint I a stinker??? ๐Ÿ˜€ โค

    God Bless!

    Prenin.

        Hi Tom! ๐Ÿ™‚ โค

I now have a kick-ass security security system thanks to ‘Talk Talk’ (after them being repeatedly hacked it’s the least they could do!!! LoL!!!), so I don’t hear from them any more!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ โค

        God Bless!
