The high street was packed: all sorts of people wearing long coats, thick-rimmed glasses, and hats. The street was full, but the shops were empty.
Suddenly, a terrified cry for help was heard from one of the rooftops. The people on the street looked around, and then dashed into doorways, telephone boxes, cars and alleyways.
Within a second, the street was empty.
A second later, after several explosions, incantations and lightning bolts, the street was once again full, this time with people wearing brightly coloured clothes, some wearing capes and others masks.
Luckily, the super hero convention was in town.

Yikes, hope none of them fought over a telephone box. It’d be seriously embarrassing to come out wearing part of somebody else’s superhero costume…

That would be embarrassing, Diane, but there’s one thing about a lot of super heroes together… they’re professional changers… wherever they change.

You never know, Susan. I may explore this in a different way, and pick out one or two of the gathered heroes and see how their days unfolded, maybe from two different sides of the street… I wasn’t actually intending on taking this story any further, but there are quite a few loose ends considering it’s such a short piece!

Just a little, Andro… although there were so many people it was quite hard to move!
