Christmasing things up

Hokey Dokey then!

I think I’ve finished Christmasing things up on my blog, so I can (try) to get back to the really enjoyable task of writing and reading blog posts all over the world!

This post is about this blog – the Christmasing Up of it (if you weren’t aware!) I’ve added a dozen or so decorated headers which will randomly appear in with all of the other random headers that I currently use. I’ve put the tree up, over there on the right of the screen. I had a few spare sets of coloured lights, so I’ve shoved them down the side (also on the right). I was going to put something up the bottom, but thought that would be taking things a little too far, and it takes almost a year to scroll down to the bottom of this page to see the footer. By all means, do so if you wish, but there’s nothing there! I’ve also turned on the snow, and spend many an hour watching as it follows the curser. They’re very clever these technical people who do things like that… sometimes it takes me all my time to use my mouse. Even longer when I suddenly realise I’m trying to move the curser  with my mobile phone or pack of cards or whatever may be lying next to my real mouse. Well, you have to try these things every now and then, don’t you… By real mouse, I mean the computer mouse – not a real mouse – that would really be silly.

I was thinking of adding some Christmassy music since I’ve now learned how to do that, but couldn’t decide what to go for. I have a harp version of Jingle Bells, which is very nice, but will it be very nice after listening to it every time I’m on this page between now and Christmas? I think not. It would probably end up feeling like being stuck in a lift with tinny Christmas music playing for all eternity. Nice to start off with, and then… shudders.

I may add more headers. I may choose one header and stick with that. I may switch off the snow. I may move the tree. I may take down some of the lights. I may change the background. I may go and have a lie down as I have given myself a headache thinking of all of this extra work. I may leave things as they are for now. I may sing The Twelve Days of Christmas. I may sing it well. I may not. OK… I will not sing it well.

And, to finish, I’ll add a picture that may or may not be on a Christmas card somewhere. There will probably be more of these…

You can add music? Can we all do that?

I love your Christmas look. Much classier than mine 🙂

Thanks, Tilly. Your site shows Christmas from within whereas mine is kind of on the outskirts!
As for the music, I don’t know if there is another way, but I’ve set up an account at Soundcloud, and then can add whatever music I put there into a widget here. It’s OK, but the music restarts when the page is refreshed…

I thought it was going to be a little bit too technical for me when I first started, Tilly, but I got there in the end! There may be an easier way out there – I’ll let you know if I find any! 😉

Tom, they broke the mould when they made you. National Lampoons Christmas Blog….you just need a few more fairy lights!

Hope there are going to be a few festive ghost stories along the way…I imagine you’re very good at those…

I was thinking of adding a Christmas Spirit tale or two, Kate… there may be one quite soon, come to think of it!
I thought I’d probably overdo things if I had more lights, but there are quite a few of them on one of my random headers (should I randomise the headers again…!) 🙂

I’ve noticed all your new Christmas decor, I love the little tree and flashing lights and the picture here in the post is so serene and lovely, makes me wish I could be walking down that gorgeous snowy path. It’s wonderful Tom, getting very Christmassy here indeed:)
    Big hugs, Nikki

Yes, I noticed the Christmasyness. How jolly. I considered changing the picture next to the title on my blog for different holidays, but I still have been too lazy to do it.

Hello, erm, Duck, by the way! The Christmasyness may change… I like messing about with the appearance!
      Welcome to my blog! 😀
