Down the lane.
There’s a river down the lane.
There’s a road alongside the river down the lane.
There’s a gate on the road that’s alongside the river down the lane.
There’s a post by the gate that’s on the road that’s alongside the river down the lane.
There’s a sign on the post by the gate that’s on the road that’s alongside the river down the lane.
There’s a word on the sign that’s on the post that’s by the gate which is on the road that’s alongside the river down the lane.
There’s a letter on the word that’s on the sign on the post which is by the gate on the road alongside the river down the lane.
There’s an address on the letter on the word on the sign on the post by the gate on the road by the river down the lane.
There’s a name above the address on the letter on the word on the sign on the post by the gate on the road alongside the river down the lane.
There’s a smudge on the name above the address on the letter on the word on the sign on the post that’s by the gate on the road that’s alongside the river down the lane.
A raindrop has caused the smudge on the name above the address on the letter on the word on the sign on the post by the gate on the road by the river down the lane.
The raincloud dripped the raindrop that caused the smudge on the name above the address on the letter on the word on the sign on the post by the gate on the road by the river down the lane.
The same raincloud that dripped the raindrop that caused the smudge on the name above the address on the letter on the word on the sign on the post by the gate on the road by the river that dripped on me.
I suppose that should teach me for looking too deeply into things.

JUST LOVE THIS. You are a great player with words, Tom. When you look back at 15something to find out why you belonged there, look amoung the literary men.

Thanks, Kate. I do like to play with words every now and then. When I next travel back to the Seventeenth Century I’ll look into those who wrote; I’m sure I’ll find something! 🙂

Andro, it originally started off just by the river. Being down the lane gave it a bit of an edge. Well, in my mind it did, anyway! 🙂

Loved the repetition, Sir Aquatom, truly loved the repetition in fact I really and truly …., 😀 … WE really need to look deeper into things, so carry on please, But in this case I feel you’ll get so, so drenched by the cloud and the deep, deep puddle which you just stepped into!! (I did point it out but you ‘was’ looking upwards!!) xPenx

You do realise that Lady Pen will be wanting the biggest box of chocolates for that 2,000th prize don’t you? 🙂 lol And she never saves me any of the soft centres either, so it will be all coffee one’s and toffees, but luckily I like toffees so it looks like you are left with all the coffee one’s Aquatom 🙂 lol
Have a fangtastic rest of evening now 🙂

Aquatim is someone who claims to be my evil step-brother. We don’t think that he’s part of the family… we try not to think of him at all, to be honest. *Shudders*.
Now there’s a good idea, Pen… a book of excuses. Now, erm, chocolates and bubbly… erm…LikeLike

Evil stepbrother Sir Aquatom? Now that’s cool!!! I found out I had a half brother a few years ago, after My mum died and I searched through the genealogy sites. Unbeknownst to us (the children, ‘cos obviously Mum knew) ) my Father had been married before. Strange life this is…BUT I don’t think he’s evil… (how can you tell? NO shadow? or is it a limp?) … what excuse No/ is the one about the choccies and bubbly?… has to be numbered or doesn’t count. (Rule no/5736 in Managing Rules of Excuses.) Sorry to be so pedantic… but these things matter you know … or all sorts of infringements occur. xPenx
