Time for a change

I have waffled on incessantly over the past three or four hundred years about how time seems to rush by in the blink of an eye. I’ve tried to control it, stop it, and on occasions speed it up for some reason, but I have never grasped the ultimate skill of time control. I will do, one day, which will probably be the day after I refine my weather control powers. I’ll apologise now for any strange behaviours in the weather over the next few days. I can’t be certain that it is my doing that is causing them, but just in case. Sometimes, messing with the weather, or any natural force, can produce very different results to those expected. Oh, I didn’t say, did I? I’m leaving time alone for now so I can use different powers of control I have.

Not that I’m a control freak, you understand. I’m not fussy if things aren’t done in a certain way. I can always do them again later, if needed.

One thing, before all else, that I need to get control of, is my hair.

It comes to something, doesn’t it, when you have to hope for a sudden gust of wind to appear from nowhere so you can explain why your hair looks the way it does. A sudden downpour of heavy rain as soon as you step outside, to make things look better. A power cut, so that everywhere is dark, and really significant things go unnoticed. Or that somebody else has even worse hair than you, and you can listen carefully to their excuses to see if you can ‘borrow’ or ‘share’ them.

I feel that I must add here that I’m not overly concerned with how I look.

I’m graced with the body of a Greek God (Adonis, I think), and hide it beneath layers of designer clothing and a coat. I’m always cold and need to wear a coat. I blame this on air conditioning. You never see paintings of Greek Gods wearing coats, do you? I can hear Apollo laughing at me now. Come to think of it, I don’t think the Greek Gods had any need for weather control either – they just got on with it. So will I!

When I say designer clothing, my cloths have been designed by someone. Not necessarily the big named fashion designers you’ve never really heard of, but somebody somewhere designed them. They aren’t the most modern of cloths either. I have a hand-me-down tunic in my wardrobe from Mediæval times that I wear occasionally on a Saturday. I only wear it occasionally as it itches, and can be a bit much with the hay fever. And, before you say it, I intended to write cloths rather than clothes. You should see the ties I wear, too. I’m not keen on wearing ties, I think they are superfluous, so deliberately wear ties that clash with the shirts that I am wearing.

Even looking that good doesn’t detract the feeling that everyone has noticed the utter awfulness of my hair. Every now and then, it tries to exert it’s own personality. If it didn’t have my own, it would grow legs and walk itself, it feels that strong.

Here’s me, confidently stating that I will control time. I will control the weather. I will control Fred (my inner driver) and Bernard (my nagging inner voice) and my inner demons (far too many to name here). I will soar through the stars. I will discover my connection to 1642 and the early part of the Seventeenth Century. Yet, I can’t even control that lively collection of individual strands of hair that sprout outward, upward and forwards from my head.

My inner Apollo, and my inner Adonis for that matter, are telling me to take control of it. They are also having a conversation between themselves as well (I’m quite used to these conversations going on inside my head) but they are saying things that they obviously want me to hear. Apollo, the God of poetry, and a poem about Adonis from the Seventeenth Century – hmmm… I’ll look into what they are rambling on about at a later time, for now, I’m taking control of my hair.

Not because my inner Gods have told me to. Not because I need the wind to rearrange it into a better style. But because I have just caught a glimpse of myself in the candle-lit reflection in the mirror. I have a triangle on my head. A triangle. I thought that the severe flick a few months ago was bad. This is worse. Much, much worse.

Luckily I do not have that problem as I comb my hair with a shaver every two or three weeks, it works really well too as afterwards I don’t ever need the use of a comb or a brush, I simply wash and go as they say on those cheesy adverts of yesteryear 🙂 lol

So you are based upon the Greek God Adonis, well I most certainly don’t have those characteristics but I am happy as I am my friend, just plain old me as it were… lol

Your Quest for Knowledge Surrounding the year 1642 is an interesting one, and I do hope that over time that you will find the missing sequences that you are searching for, in the meantime be very well my friend…

Good luck with your hair now Aquatom

Thank you, Andro, although my hair will have to wait a little longer, triangle or no triangle! And, I remember those wash and go adverts (although when I first read your comment my thoughts went to the equally cheesy shake’n’vac adverts for some reason)

      Yes, Adonis indeed. Somewhere.

And as for 1642, I’m sure that I will find my missing link sometime soon.

Be well, yourself, Androgoth, and thanks for commenting!

You are welcome my wicked friend,
and I too remember thos ‘Shake ‘n’ Vac’
adverts, of course putting the freshness
back will depend on what one is up to? 🙂

        BTW –

        The Puritan Revolution was 1642 – 1660
so I wonder how you would have coped
        throughout this time period? Interesting…

        Okay so a bit of
        useless info there…

Most definitely not useless, Andro, the start of the Civil War was among the first things that I discovered about 1642, but the information I found didn’t seem to refer to the Puritan Revolution, or maybe I hadn’t read that far yet?
I don’t know how I would have coped then, but conflict isn’t what draws me to the time period. I would say that the Civil War was quite a big thing for 1642, but that doesn’t flick any switches with me when I read about it, if that makes sense. There’s something else that is just out of reach, and my quest is to find that missing piece!
Any information that I learn about the time is really interesting though, and thank you for mentioning it. I’ll look into things from the Puritan’s side, to see if anyone or anything makes things a little clearer for me…

as always, enjoying the various quests and areas of intrigue and mystery.

Bex… tornadoes and earthquakes? What have I unleashed?

Awesome hair days are great. Mine seem to be a distant memory at present. Funny all the same though. My hair has always been determinedly independent though.

      Hope you slept well!

A triangle?.. How on earth…..ah well, I’ve just been snorting away to myself. um. snuffling, chortling?… what the heck, they all sound ‘not quite right’ but I will continue on regardless,(‘Twas the Saturday medieval Tunic ‘wot’ itches that set me off. ) I know, … I have some items of clothing which I keep for some unknown reason, mayhap I have feelings for them? Tho’ I don’t name them as I do white goods. saying bye to George the old broken down Microwave fair near ‘broke’ my heart, for I knew he wasn’t going to a better home, even tho’ I told him he was… Can one get a black mark for lying to a microwave? .. St Peters book won’t take note? … I hope not, ‘cos there’s lots more where that came from. Anyway, enuff about me.( 😉 ) …. at least your voices are talking to each other, mine aren’t… they keep sending each other message through me… but like I said enuff about me ( 😉 😉 ) I do hope you get control of summat soon, or I’ll be losing face, ‘cos I told my inner voices you’d cracked it… Time wise. or did I say you were um… never mind. …. have a great Bank Holiday Week-end. (I think there’s only three red wavy lines. now that’s a first!!) xPenx

Snorting, snuffling and chortling all sound good to me, Pen. They feel good too! Sorry to hear about George the microwave, but I’m sure he understood your reasons for not telling him. I had a terrapin called George when I was younger. And you’d like my tunic. Just not the itchiness that comes with it.

Time and hair, time and hair. Both as important as the other, but where one waits, the other doesn’t… but I will have control once more. 😉

Hmmm. A triangle. Could this not be useful in your search for the 17th century truth? Just a hunch….

Kate, do you know, you could be right! We very often have clues for things we are looking for, or need, turn up in our lives in the most unexpected of places. I’m going to follow your suggestion, and put things to the test! Thanks, Kate! 🙂

I usually wear vintage clothing on Thursdays and Saturdays as I can remember it because of an old Crosby,Stills&Nash song Suite Judy Blue Eyes…you know the lyrics?…”Will you come see me on Thursdays and Saturdays” LOL
I have not time traveled lately with all the storms…I haven’t even been across the pond, hope you fix that.
I have that inner Aphrodite that I cannot shake, Long Hair which is awful in a wind storm and let me tell you about that Triangle…Pure glow of your Aura.
Did I mention that 17th Century in Numerology is number 8 a number of continuity and abundance? Well, food for thought or perhaps a cheese croissant with Yorkshire Tea. MMMmmm.

Interesting Piscean ramble, Raven. Especially interesting to see that the seventeenth century is linked to continuity and abundance… it makes sense to me!
I hope you get to travel wherever you want to, R, and the storms are not too bad for you.
