One Minute Ramble: Distant Sounds

ear
Outside my window I can hear:
A bird chirping loudly… it sounds quite clear
It could almost be out on the ledge,
But I’d rather guess that it’s in the hedge.
Beyond the hedge there is a road
A private one, or so I’m told,
This backs on to the main street
Where all the rumbling vehicles ‘meet’
An ice cream van jingles it’s merry tune
Ah, now it’s gone, I typed too soon!
A shout I hear…  from out there,
That could have come from anywhere
The echoes, you see, they distort the sound
Making them all go round and round
The chirping bird though hasn’t stopped
Even through the raindrops.
Wrong again… it too has gone
Every sound has now moved on
All that’s left is peace and quiet
That’s more than welcome for tonight!
Time for bed, time to rest…
Time to dream… night time’s the best!

good one, Sir Aquatom, the distant and near sounds which make up our world. We have an Ice-cream Van which appears every now and again, it’s tuneful jingle is ‘Boys and Girls come out to Play’ which to me sounds vaguely sinister, and I often wonder if it’s the child snatcher come visiting. (not heard anything untoward though. 😉 ) …. Sweet dreams … xPenx

I’m not keen on that tune, Lady P… it gives me the chills whenever I hear it! Do you know, I can’t remember what tune the local ice cream van here plays… that’s weird…
