Finding me, no?

Finding me, noThe title of this post was inspired by the animated movie about a missing fish, Finding Nemo. The body of the post is inspired by life in general, and from the perception of a Piscean person. Me. See, fish links and everything, all in the first paragraph! And before you say you can only see a fish link, everything else slots into the phrase ‘life in general’. Not that life can be generalised, it is far too grand to be general. But I think you’ll catch my drift… And, I’m sorry, there are many references to water in this post, but I hope they don’t dilute it too much…

Now, I’m a trawler. I trawl the net  on occasions searching for, well, anything and everything, really. I’ve found a site that describes the general attributes of a Piscean. I usually take these things at face value, and go along with the general categorisation of everyone’s astrological signs, but I’ve decided to dive a little deeper today. Just how much of my personality and character correspond with the general perception of a Piscean? Let’s have a look…

  • Shy  – At times, I am shy. I was shy when I was eight years old, and as that child is still within me, so is his personality aspect too. So, I’m shy. Unless I know you, and you know me. Then I’m knot. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist!)
  • Romantic – I don’t like receiving flowers, so does that make me un-romantic? If romance is about sharing, I don’t share my food. I like company however, and have been known to shed an ocean’s worth of tears at a couple of ‘romantic’ movies. I also shed an equal amount of tears laughing, or when my eyes stream due to hay fever or colds.
  • Trustworthy – Definitely. I am usually the one who is let down when I’m given a secret to keep. I usually get the blame for when someone guesses a secret, but I never, ever break a friend’s trust. Or an enemy’s trust for that matter. Trust must come without exception in my book, and if I am given something to keep to myself that is where it stays. It doesn’t wash with me how someone can let something they have been given in confidence slip.
  • Aloof – Possibly. I don’t like the word ‘Aloof’, it sounds so harsh and dry. Having said that, the dictionary definition of aloof is at a distance, especially in feeling or interest; apart and reserved or reticent; indifferent; disinterested. I can be distant at times. I float away into different dimensions if I’m doing something I’m not interested in, and I am reserved. Yes, I’m aloof at times.
  • Dreamy – This is me! I am dreamy. I’m a dreamer. I love dreaming! I day dream, I fantasize, I see things in my mind’s eye. This may be one of the strongest of the Piscean traits within me.
  • Creative – Again, at times. I like being creative, and I have some pretty random ideas. I am always trying out new things, and hope that some of my blogs have a little creative ‘twist’ to them. Sometimes my mind is a whirlpool of ideas, and at other times it is like being in the openness of space itself. But, something always comes from nothing, you just need to look at things slightly differently.
  • Understanding – Hopefully, I am understanding. If this is referring to matters of the mind, and problems and situations, and possibly health related issues, then I would say I’m understanding. If it is referring to the workings of the mind, the universe and my job, then no, I’m not understanding. But in a good way. Apart from the job.
  • Unrealistic – How very dare you! I’m very real thank you very much. My flights of fantasy are as much real as my rubber ducky in my bathtub. Do I own a rubber ducky? Do I own a bathtub?
  • Impractical – I would use a different word here. I’m not one hundred per cent sure of what the correct word should be, but impractical doesn’t sound right. Maybe ‘reservedly actioned’, or ‘reserved for great things’ sounds better. And I am that!

The site goes on to describe the things that Pisceans like and dislike. The likes are romance (if I must); nature (goes without saying); ambient music (ahh); poetry (yes, I like poetry); mystical settings (someone’s been reading my mind); being loved / wanted (but doesn’t everyone really want to feel this way?) and privacy (I need my privacy). The dislikes are noise (depends on the noise I suppose); crowds (depends on the crowds as well); dirt and ugliness (this one’s a bit harsh – wash your mouth out!); garish objects (I like garish objects so maybe I’m not a full one hundred per cent Piscean); tight spaces (I am claustrophobic so this is a direct hit!); authority (I don’t mind authority at times, I’m just not too keen on losers who use authority for their own power); and revealing private life (yes, I do have a private life that I don’t reveal. My private life is getting smaller and smaller as I am opening up more, but I’ll go along with this dislike for now).

The descriptions above are mostly from one site that I have visited, but others have very similar descriptions. I was aware of quite a few of them for a while anyway. One thing I wasn’t aware of was the revelation about me not being one hundred per cent Piscean. Considering Pisces runs from February 19th to March 20th, and my birthday is March 13th, I’m roughly two thirds of the way through the date range. Until you discover ‘Sidereal Astrology’ that is, and the date ranges are slightly different. Under this calendar, Aquarius runs from February 15th to March 14th, when Pisces takes over on the 15th. Aquarius the water carrier is an air sign, and Pisces the fishes is a water sign (which seems slightly confusing, but it also makes sense as well; carrying the water through the air…). An interesting thing here are the things an Aquarian likes: privacy, dreams, magic, change. They sound quite Piscean to me. Maybe I have a little Aquarian in me as well.

Maybe my username of Aquatom wasn’t as random as I thought it was… I like dreaming that I can fly; and I dream of the ocean and swimming often too. Hmmm.  I’ll look further into this altered astrological timeline at a later date.

Aquatom the Questioner has something else to think of…

I can’t trust astrology anymore. It used to be such a reputable source of life advice, but ever since they adjusted the dates and I’m no longer a Virgo, I’m left wondering why astrology never predicted my sign would change.

And I ask you, who decides such things anyway? We’ll be having a thirteenth month soon!

I had a turtle in my bath, plastic one, which you could wind up and his flipers propelled him through the bath water. How old was I ? um….not telling!! BUT I gave him to a neighbours child about couple of years ago… 😉

Um, I have no idea, I haven’t taken any notice? Is it important? August 14th?(is my cusp showing?) I feel like a Leo, in fact I roared this morning, ‘cos Bess wasn’t eating (just deep inside I mean) and my teeth showed in a pained grimace, I’m sure of it!! xx

I don’t think it’s important, but I don’t know that much about astrology! I’m interested in it though, and love learning new things. August 14th is in Cancer in the Sidereal Horoscope, so you’ve been moved into the previous star sign just as I was. Cancer July 16th to August 15th, Leo August 16th to September 15th. It is possible that your cusp may have been on show for quite a while…

Shree, if it helps, according to my research, in normal astrology, Libra runs between 23rd September and 22nd October.
In the Sidereal horoscope, it is between 14th October and 13th November. Virgo covers the days up to 14th October. So, you are either still a Libran or you are now a Virgo. I think you can choose, so if you like being a Libran you can stay one!
I keep coming across these different calendars, which I find very interesting!

I’m gemini…does mine change? By the way, what is this site? I’m trying to research star signs, especially mine. I’d really appreciate the help – and it’s amazing how accurate our star signs can get!

Hi Emily, according to Wikipedia, Gemini is between May 22 – June 20. In the Sidereal horoscope it is between June 16 – July 15 so it is highly likely that your star sign may change, as the time frames overlap by only a few days. To be honest, I can’t remember the name of the site I visited as I initially used Google and searched quite a few of the sites from the results. Quite a lot of the sites gave similar information, though… Good luck with your research! 🙂
