A Warm Welcome

Here's my final part to our (Clark and mine) Six Sentence Serial, '... Of Heroes and the Misunderstood'. We seem to go all around the world, only to end up at the Six Sentence Café & Bistro. For this part, reunited, we have...

Alex Jokullson and Helga Arondottir walked through the doors and into the bistro looking around in awe, the place being far busier than the outside appearances portrayed. Moonbeam followed them through the doors, holding them open / a shimmer of light sliced through the crowd / for…¤ The Lady, Bubblegum and the Dropped Apostrophe; ‘I think I’m losing my mind,’ Moonbeam said, slightly confused, ‘I could’ve sworn some other people were behind me.’

‘You’ll rue the day you mistake me for someone else,’ The Lady said with a stern glare, being taken somewhat aback by the rapid acceleration of expressions that crossed Moonbeam’s face, ‘but I’ll let you off for today as you seem tired… let’s welcome our newbies onto the team.’

Bubblegum was quickly served by the Bartender, who worked so swiftly she appeared to be in two places at the same time, and the man from the door, the Gatekeeper, found a table for the six with remarkable ease, considering how busy the venue was; a lady appeared from the kitchen carrying a cake emblazoned with the word congratulations, and placed it, six plates and six cake spoons onto the table; a tall, thin man walked by and whispered to The Lady, ‘I hope you don’t mind, but a friend of ours heard your conversation on the way in, and we just want you to have a warm welcome…’; he nodded to a red-haired lady who was sat by the door tapping away at her laptop.

Moonbeam looked over at the bar, and saw three familiar-looking people, two women and a man, seemingly just as confused as he felt, but they soon disappeared into the sea of people that surrounded them. The Lady’s comment you’ll Rue the day came back into his mind, day becoming night for some odd reason… he shook himself off and joined the party that was taking place around him.

Posted for Six Sentence Stories. Denise’s prompt word this week is Light.
