Letting Off Steam

Lately it’s been hot here at The Mansion.

Probably as hot as other places, but the heat seems to be magnified around here. Fortunately, inside, it’s a lot cooler, especially in The Foyer, The Bathroom and The Vestibule.

The Outer Walls seem to absorb and hold onto the heat, which helps a lot in the winter months, but in summer it can be a little too much.

Back in the long hot summer of 1976, The Mansion baked. It managed to keep a lot of the heat out, but some of the original brick and stonework began to crack, allowing just a little more heat inside.

Then the rains came. Torrential, cooling, refreshing rain that certainly made things feel better. The brickwork healed. The stonework repaired. The Mansion released a lot of heat through steam.

For a few days, the steam created more rain clouds, which in turn created more cooling rain.

Eventually, things balanced out. The Mansion cooled enough to stop steaming, and the rains became more of a drizzle.

The winter heat stored. The summer heat lessened. And The Mansion had a lovely golden glow.
