‘Phew, that was close,’ Roxx said as he looked through the viewport, ‘the wormhole opened just on the other side of the ice cavern.’
‘Will you close that viewport and come away,’ Skark demanded, tapping digits into the captain’s console, ‘we need it to be as close as possible.’
‘That was as close as possible as I’d like it to be,’ Roxx sighed as he closed the shutter, ‘it nearly swallowed us.’
‘When you signed up for this mission, did you do so with your eyes closed?’ Skark closed down his console and looked at the rookie researcher, saying ‘We’re here to study the wormhole… we need it to open and close around us… we need to know what it’s doing.’
The craft shunted from side to side as a bright orange light filtered through the sides of the shutters; ‘Now’s the time to close your eyes, Roxx,’ Skark chuckled, ‘it looks like we’re going in!’

It’s been a while. This is a rusty attempt at getting back into the swing of writing. Science fiction is always a good goto place… for me… well, that, superheroes, and curious characters.
This has been written for Six Sentence Stories. Denise’s prompt word for this week is Close. I hope I haven’t overused it!
