Nice Moonbeam (out-take)

Recently, Clark and I completed our Six Sentence Serial, ‘Of Heroes and the Misunderstood’. During the writing of the serial, many drafts were, erm, drafted. Some published, others not.

I’m now publishing these drafts as out-takes. Some of the drafts will feature characters from Clark’s universe…

The helicopter made a quicker than expected flight to the borough of Greenton, just outside of London, landing on a playing field across the road from the Ravenwing Hotel; remembering to thank the pilot, Moonbeam made his way over the field toward the hotel, as the tinny voice of Bubblegum chirped in his earpiece, ‘are you actually being nice?’

Ignoring his teammate’s remark, Moonbeam asked, ‘so, is she definitely in the hotel?’

That’s where Matthew tracked her mobile to,’ Bubblegum sighed, ‘although that was over an hour ago and we have no ideas about any other engagement she may have.’

At the marble reception desk, Moonbeam noticed the clerk eyeing him suspiciously but chose to just get to the point, ‘you have a Ms DeNite staying here… either call her room and get her to come down here now, or tell me her room number, and I’ll go and see her.’

‘I can’t do that, sir,’ the clerk said calmly, ‘Ms DeNite left about half an hour ago… you’re Moonbeam, aren’t you… from the news… can I have your autograph and a photo?’

Hearing the tinny sound of Bubblegum’s laughter in his earpiece, Moonbeam pressed it twice to mute her, and locking eyes with the hotel receptionist said, ‘I’ll let you stay awake if you tell me right now where she’s gone.’

Posted for Six Sentence Stories. This week, Denise’s prompt word is ‘engagement‘.
