Journey Back

Over the past few weeks, Clark and I have been co-writing a Six Sentence Serial called ... Of Heroes and the Misunderstood...
The serial is now coming to a close, with only a couple of weeks left. This chapter uses Denise’s prompt word Double.

Now the story continues…

Isla and Rocco sat at the back of The Lady’s jet beside each other, both fast asleep; Alex Jokullson and Helga Arondottir sat on the seats in front of them, reading through the documents Rue DeNite had taken from the London offices of Mooncross Industries before they were destroyed; Moonbeam returned to his seat at the front of the six, where Rue, who was sat looking out of the window glanced up at him.

‘Are you sure you don’t want to catch up on some sleep, Rue,’ Moonbeam asked, thumbing over his shoulder, ‘like the double act behind?’

‘Tell me you didn’t…’ Rue’s eyes opened wider, a slight smirk appearing on her lips, ‘you didn’t, did you… use your mumbo jumbo on them?’

Moonbeam laughed; ‘no, I didn’t…’ he laughed again at Rue’s expression, ‘I swear, I didn’t… she asked to join my band of merry outlaws you know, just after you turned me down again, but with Alex and Helga joining now there’s no room for her… she may be a better dancer with you than an intelligence operative!’

‘I doubt it,’ Rue laughed, remembering the night before where Isla found herself unconscious twice during the course of the evening, ‘but she may have some good qualities about her.’

‘Just one thing,’ Moonbeam’s tone changed instantly to a chiiling, serious one, ‘I’ve hung around with criminal types for years now, I get a feeling from them,’ he nodded his head backwards towards the rear of the fuselage, ‘I’m not saying she’s giving those vibes, but there’s definitely something about her… if she stays with you, just watch her… keep your eye on her.’
