“Gordon, have you seen the recipe book for the formula to the new scent?”
“It was on the windowsill just before… ” Gordon glanced over to the window, then back at Eunice, the Quality Control Manager, who’d just walked into the Development Suite, bringing a hurricane with her. They both ran over to the window and saw the book splayed downwards on the car park four floors down.
Heavy raindrops started to fall around the book.
“Why would you leave it on the ledge?” Eunice asked, ashen-faced.
“Why did you burst into the office like you did?” Gordon replied, his face developing a crimson hue.
Noticing the rain was getting heavier outside, and the book had already been driven over once, they decided Gordon should run out to retrieve the document, while Eunice would speak to Systems to see if they could get another copy. They both watched as another car drove over the book, ripping the cover away.
“Hi, it’s Eunice,” the flustered woman said when she finally got an answer. “Could you possibly print out another copy of the Fra Gi Ley composition for me?”
Gordon returned, dripping wet, with the tattered and soggy remains of the book, slapping it down on the desk.
“Due to the company’s one copy print then delete for prototype design policy, they can’t print another.” Eunice sighed.
“I always thought that policy was flawed,” Gordon said, holding aloft a dripping page, “Fra Gi Ley may not turn out as planned, I feel…”
