Unicorn Challenge: To The Letter

“The man said to carry on passed the old manor house, the arched gateway, the ancient monument and the fish and chip shop, but if we reach the curve in the road we’ve gone too far.” Samantha gripped the steering wheel in despair. “That looks like a curve in the road.”

Gloria frowned. “Well, I haven’t seen the fish and chip shop yet.”

“We passed the gateway to the manor and that cross thing two miles back,” Samantha pondered, “so the chippy must be somewhere within the last two miles.” She quickly turned the car around and headed back along the road.

As Samantha drove, Gloria kept her eyes peeled on both sides of the road. Seconds later, Gloria pointed out an illuminated red, white, and blue neon-lit takeaway set back from the other side of the road. “There!” she bellowed.

Samantha turned the car around (again) and slowly drove back in the opposite direction.

As they approached the curve in the road a second time, Samantha pulled over to the side of the road and stopped. “I don’t believe it… we’re here again.” she whined.

Gloria noticed, under a street light, slightly hidden by a tree’s leaves, a sign. ‘Lost Souls Inn, guesthouse for the weary traveller‘ she read, “Parking at rear, new access just around the bend.”

Samantha drove on, around the bend, turning at the next corner for the guesthouse. The Curve in the Road pub was clearly visible further along the road ahead.

Lost Soul’s Inn. Been to a few of those places. Hope it had good food, but I wonder if it was worth the 10 gallon$ of ga$ $pent on trying to find it. 😉

I’m sure the food was worth the visit, Ladysighs… those out of the way places tend to look at details like that! 🙂

Argh, The Curve In the Road pub! Poor Gloria and Samantha – I’ve been given directions like that, too (but I try not to give them). 🙂
