
Since finding those old photographs the other day, I’ve been fascinated to see how much things have changed, although my mind is telling me that things haven’t changed at all.
Take these two photos as an example. I don’t know when these were taken, but they are old. The one above is a view of the Grinds one Autumn, together with a robin on one of the branches on the tree in the middle there. I think it’s a robin, anyway. I can’t zoom in any closer as the picture pixelates, but if it isn’t a robin, it’s a leaf… although it looks more bird-like than leaf-like to me.
The photo below shows the humble beginnings of the Lake, long before the geese, ducks, herons, peacocks, waterfowl, rabbits, plesiosaurs and dragons moved in (they may well have visited back then, but they hadn’t as yet moved in). The odd thing is, I don’t remember it being that small. Most strange. I do, however, remember some strange reference to the Puddle, so this may be it…
