The Lake. Yesteryear.

Since finding those old photographs the other day, I’ve been fascinated to see how much things have changed, although my mind is telling me that things haven’t changed at all.

Take these two photos as an example. I don’t know when these were taken, but they are old. The one above is a view of the Grinds one Autumn, together with a robin on one of the branches on the tree in the middle there. I think it’s a robin, anyway. I can’t zoom in any closer as the picture pixelates, but if it isn’t a robin, it’s a leaf… although it looks more bird-like than leaf-like to me.

The photo below shows the humble beginnings of the Lake, long before the geese, ducks, herons, peacocks, waterfowl, rabbits, plesiosaurs and dragons moved in (they may well have visited back then, but they hadn’t as yet moved in). The odd thing is, I don’t remember it being that small. Most strange. I do, however, remember some strange reference to the Puddle, so this may be it…

Autumn is my favorite season, and in the woods is the best place to be. Thanks for sharing your photos,

Not the spooky prehistoric location I had visualized…I had large twisted trees and fog and dead limbs in the brackish black water, moss hanging down and eerie silence, you know something out of the Lost Horizon. Where do the dragons hide???? It’s funny….When you began to story tell about the Grinds I for some reason imagined moors like in Scotland. I know, I’m odd.. VK

Not odd at all, VK… you’re describing the Grinds from Beyond there. The Prehistoric Grinds you refer to have existed – the Mansion has taken me there once or twice! As for the dragons, I know not. All I know is they hide very well indeed!
