I’ve composed myself, and now I’m settled after almost leaping out of my skin earlier. What I didn’t realise was that I was also standing by the manky rope ladder under the window, and with the wind outside getting up, a gust must have caused it to swing forwards and brush the back of my head. Luckily, I never screamed, ran, dropped the phone or leapt out of my skin. I did freeze briefly, however, which I don’t mind admitting.
How I managed to forget about the rope ladder after the kerfuffle I had getting in here is another thing, and beyond me right now, but that’s what it was. I tell myself.
I’ve explored the room again, and I’ve come across what appears to be an alcove in one of the walls. By the light of the mobile phone, this wall is green in colour. The bottom of the alcove is chest height and goes back about twenty centimetres, at a guess. I haven’t got a tape measure with me to confirm, but that’s what it feels like.
As I was measuring the alcove, I had another moment where I froze, as I put my hand through a very thick cobweb, which I had to shake off. The alcove is covered in them, which leads me to believe that the rest of the room must be as well.
Anyway, back to the alcove, I imagine it would be where shelving must have been. I can’t see any other reason for it.
The chattering noise I mentioned earlier is back now, it seems louder and closer.
So, I’m going to see if I can find out what this is. I’ll walk along this wall until I find it!
I’ll be back with an update soon…
