Ghost Ship

Galleon (Wikipedia)“Ahoy me hearties!” bellowed the actor on the deck of the Sulphur Sark. Holding a steel blade aloft he started to swing it around in a figure of eight fashion. He was alone, and knew he wouldn’t cause any damage if he came on board to rehearse.

“Shiver me timbers!” he continued, although now he had the feeling he was being watched. He looked around and saw nobody there, so carried on.

He heard a ghostly voice behind him, and turned quickly, just as the Jolly Roger wrapped itself around him. “Shiver me timbers!” was the last thing he heard.

Ooh err! That was very eerie and shiver-down-the-spineee! I like how you can write these things in so few words, I know I couldn’t! 🙂

Oh, I’m sure you could Icewolf… I’ve challenged myself to write fifty of them, and it’s quite a good challenge! 🙂

Actually you did get me thinking…I mightt take up this challenge myself, it would be a good exercise in self discipline as I really am terrible at making anything short and concise – as my mostly overly long comments show! Perhaps start off off-line and see how it goes and take it from there 🙂

That’s what I did with the ones I have written already, Icewolf, so they are just ready to be published as and when! You could start off with a slightly larger target of say 150 words and then reduce the word count from there! It’s just something different to try!

Indeed it can, Kate, I remember my acting days from years gone by…

I wish Jolly Roger made house calls. The off-key singing actor that resides on the other side of my shared wall might then pipe down.

Maybe you should try to enlist the help of a more amiable phantom, LA… there must be one or two in those theatres you visit that would love to ‘shut someone up’… 😉
