I’m really not ignoring you…

I’m trying.

I’m really trying.

I really am.

But I fail. Almost every time, I fail.

However I try.

Whenever I try, I get an error.

It’s not me.

I know that it isn’t me.

I’m connecting to other sites fine on whichever browser I use. They are all fine apart from WordPress sites.

Maybe it is just me. Although I noticed this:

I’m having a few connection issues at present. I’m having problems reading other posts, liking other posts and commenting on other posts.

I couldn’t get access to the WordPress sites I wanted to read using Internet Explorer, Firefox or Google Chrome, although I could manage to read the posts in the Opera browser. However, on the Opera browser I wasn’t logged in to WordPress once I’d opened the particular site I wanted to read, so I had to enter my username and password to like a post. I had to log in twice to leave a comment, and I’m not entirely sure if that has been successful.

I can’t get into my dashboard. I can get into the reader for some reason, but I can’t access any other site from there.

I can’t even reply to comments left on my posts, when I can view them, which is doubly frustrating.

This post has been written in Windows Live Writer, and posted through that system (as I usually do) rather than the site itself. If it has been posted, that is. I may not be able to tell for a little while.

Hopefully, these problems will be ironed out soon, and I’ll be back visiting, commenting and liking again very soon indeed.

But, I’m not ignoring you. Really I’m not.

Anyone else having similar problems? Really?

Tom, I am only pleased that this just isnt happening to me… Ive had he very same several times now… even a little message via a triangle sign at the top of my Notifications icon which said Notifications would not be supported by my present brower and I needed to upgrade!.. I too use Internet Expolorer and have recently tried Firefox too…
Just an Hour ago I.E. stopped working and shut everything down and I was so frustrated I went to make a cuppa and re-booted both Modem and PC.. thinking it was me… with a bug..
But my scans prooved ok… So this post is good to know its not just me…
And while Im here, I will catch up on your recent posts …

    Just a suggestion to you both…the WP code is 100% compatible with Chrome, but not with IE (for Microsoft reasons). It does reduce the number of errors. If you set Chrome to have a little longer window time (waits longer for WP to answer), you can clear the majority of the time out errors.

        Thanks from me too, Red. I didn’t know about the WordPress / Chrome compatibility thing, but I started to have lots of problems with Chrome crashing at random with other sites so I moved to Firefox, which has been OK. Then these problems started and the errors occur on any browser. Seems OK right now though – although I’ve tempted fate there by saying that! The time out message I received seems to come in a lot quicker than it takes for the page to load, which is odd, but IF the problem continues I’ll look into setting the window time. Notice I emphasised the if… 😀

        The logic behind giving it a little longer time is one with a mixed background. In the days of viral hacking of inconsequential sites (which is what blogs are considered…they have no minable information), it was better to keep it quick. With the increased security built into the majority of sites (even inconsequential ones) opening the window to 15 seconds does not put you at any extra risk, since most all sites try to operate at under three seconds load span anyway. I know I keep mine to loading between 0.6 and 0.9 seconds.
        
        What occurs to me as I secondary process in the background is it sounds like a theme issue. The theme loads first. Hmmm….investigator mode is kicking in…

        I nod sagely. I understand the timing side of things, and also the theme side to an extent, Red, but we’re on different themes… I work with computer software but have no clue with the coding behind it… its like knowing several words in French but having to read a novel… I’m hoping the problems are sorted soon, but they give a good topic for discussion! 😀

  Hi Sue! I’m grabbing while the iron’s hot (I think that’s the phrase I’m looking for…) as I’ve been able to reply to comments on my blog and add another couple here and there in the past half hour or so. This window may not last very long!!!
  I think there’s something going on with WordPress and if you’re having the problem as well, then that’s good to hear – well not good, but you know what I mean…

This looks like a problem with your router to me,
perhaps it is losing its signal through your service
provider, and as for all those error displays, that
can be caused with many different glitches, it is
just trying to eliminate one thing at a time, so do
keep at it Sir Aquatom 🙂 🙂

It is a real pain in the… Well you know 😦
Keep plugging away at the problems, fixing
one and moving onto the next…

  Ah, I’ve managed to get onto this post – goodness knows how!
  I don’t think its my router, Andro… Prenin and Sue are having similar problems, and it is only with WordPress sites. I’ve been trouble free WP wise during all of their recent troubles, so I suppose it’s my turn now.
  But yes, I’ll keep on keeping on. I may give up in between, but I’ll be back to keep on keeping on…

Oh wow…I’m so sorry to hear. So far it’s been ok…though I am getting far too many error messages on Firefox…but that’s for any site, not just WordPress. Hope it gets sorted out soon!

Paws crossed, had no problems here but I’m using an independant mobile broadband connection which sometimes bypasses mainstream modem/router problems. What I can tell you however, is that I am currently unable to access my W/P Reader from Google Chrome. It’s fine in IE and from the mobile tho I use the W/P app there rather than the i/net version. Chrome’s just showing a little tiny “0” in the reader page. A minor annoyance but I would rather use Chrome like I normally do as it’s far faster than IE. A W/P problem I think but haven’t got round to contacting them yet. Hope your problems clear up pronto and you’re up and running properly asap. Stay cool!

I have been cruising around to my friends who have disappeared, and most are complaining of this issue. There are tickets open in the support forum. Even if you cannot get to other WP places, you may be able to get there. Latch onto a ticket! http://wordpress.org/support/

So far, no reports it is happening for blog OFF of WP. Hangout with your friends off site. The login has been kicking everyone out for over a month. The last update was supposed to clear it up. Seems that did not happen as they planned. Somehow, I am not surprised.

  Hi Red… it seems their last update may have caused a little ‘ripple’ affect and slightly knocked out some other settings. Not meaning to sound harsh, they seem to have had quite a few problems lately that affect clusters of people, although considering the numbers they serve I suppose its better that the problems don’t affect everyone at the same time. That would be horrendous!
  
  Details of others having problems have been filtering through to me as well, which is good in a way as it proves that it isn’t me with the problem… I start to feel that way after a while!

    Another boon for you is they try the updates out on the offsite troops first (That would be me.). We do what we can to wreck it, they fix it, then pass it along the denizens of WP world. The login issue was resolved in the last update, but it seems this loading error is the backlash for the bug fix. We all know how snotty vermin can be when you stick a stick in their nest.
    
    *Ugh* Still sounds like a theme error or a CSS cascade foul up. If you have any more problems out of Chrome, take Google’s advice. Unload it (as in delete it and restart your computer…after you save all your passwords) and reload it. In all the years I have used Chrome I have only done it once, but it completely cured the problem. Usually lifetime dump of cache, cookies and browsing history accomplishes the same thing. Sometimes, time outs are pulling up of the cache of the last time it timed out. IJS, it is possible.

      How do the off site sites work, Red? I mean do you have to code everything yourself or are parts available for you to choose from? I wouldn’t know where to begin if I had to code everything… anything actually!!!

        Themes are available and loads (100s of thousands) of plugins. You can build a site entire as a plug and play. There were loads of things I coded myself because I wanted them to work my way instead of the way the designers originally liked them. It help me fix some compatibility issues.
        
        When you are off site, you can have things the way you want them and with so many choices it can make your head swim. Before I made the jump, I made sure my theme would be available and there were sufficient plugins to cover the majority of what I wanted.
        
        The things WP keeps for onsite only are the like button and being able to be read in the WP Reader (which refuses to load offsites). If you press the follow button at the top of the screen, you will never see M3 in the reader…you have to subscribe. When you jump offsite, all those followers think you quit posting.
