Five By Five

I’ve realised that I haven’t written a post for a while that contains a list. OK, I may have done, and don’t remember, but just in case I haven’t, here’s one anyway. Five, actually.

Things I must do:
Improve my driving.
Tone up my physique.
Train my hair.
Learn more about stars (the celestial kind).
Make more time to visit more blogs.

Things I must stop doing:
Complaining about things. Stuff. Anything.
Panicking at the most random times.
Putting off book reading time.
Eating a lot of junk food.
Waiting and not doing.

Things I must improve:
My writing.
My patience.
My artistic side.
My tolerance.
My time-management skills.

Things I must make more of an effort for:
To see the Northern Lights.
To visit the places I have always wanted to visit.
To dream lucidly.
To find my connection to 1642.
To learn one new fact every single day.

Things I must learn: (Apart from one new fact every single day)
How to play the harp.
How to have a lucid dream.
How to speak with my Spirit Guide.
How to read the Tarot.
How to get a book published (for when I actually start to write one!)

Not great goals, in the grand scheme of things, but very doable. All are a step forward, which is a good thing, and when I can do them all, I know that I’ll be in a good place. Not much different to where I am at the moment, actually, but with less of the things I don’t want and more of the things I do. All will help me to feel good, and I love to feel good! I don’t think I’ve said that on this blog in a while, either…

Look to me like you got all your ducks in a row….Now to begin working on them. Which one first, Tom?…Sorry, I did mean to do that to ya…Just couldn’t resist, my friend.

That’s OK, Deb. I’m not very good with prioritising my lists once I’ve made them. I’ve had a bit of an eye-opener with regards to lists this morning, that they can actually be a way of putting off what needs to be done, a form of procrastination. Writing the list looks like something is being done about it, when it isn’t! Corisel’s post got me thinking this way!
      Thanks for commenting, Deb!

Really! I’m going to quit writing down what I got to do so I can get it done. But wait, this may not work for me because I have a bad short term memory, which is why I write things down when I think of them to begin with. But on the other hand, if I let a enough time go by, I will then remember it…I hope this makes sense to you and not just me.
I’m on my way to check out Corisel. But then I might forget about your recent post. I’ll go there first, then hopefully, I’ll remember Corisel…..How is it that every time I come here I tell you every thought that pops in my head…It’s weird.
        Have a great day, Tom!
        Hugs, xx

My memory isn’t the best either, Deb… I tend to forget things even with a list (usually when I’m out shopping, but other times too!); but I still think writing a list is a good idea… even though saying I must do this, this, this and this, gives me the option of not doing everything on the list as I’ll get around to it eventually anyway – or not and then I’ll write a new list!
And you make perfect sense Deb! 😀

Okay I went over to Corisel’s, read and commented on the post you were speaking of.
When I make a list, I don’t do things on the list in the order that they are written, but by their importance, but I do get the list tackled. Even my grocery lists, because I cross things off the list as I toss things in the cart. When the list has all scratched off entries, I am done and go right to the check out.
When I write some things down that I need to do, I don’t do them in the order they are written but by the importance of them, whether for me or someone else. This of course is solely up to my own judgment. But I do get things done off the list. The list may grow…Always seems to, because there is always something that needs to be done.
Now, about the list of things I want to do. I make sure I have a set amount of time set aside for me to do what I want to do…Even if that is twiddling my thumbs. This it very important now, because if we don’t set time aside to do what we want to do we put off what we have to do. So balance is the key. When we do what we are suppose to do, at least some of it, we can enjoy more what we want to do. Likewise, when we give ourselves time to do what we want to do…No matter what it is, we are not burdened with what we have to do….Balance.
Well, that my 2 cents anyway.
Hugs to you, my friend, xx

    Well now…I am impressed 😀
I haven’t put my New Year’s Resolutions List together yet 🙄
I could say they include many of what you have written here?
Yes, perhaps you have given me a motivation….Oh look,
I am an Actress needing “my motivation” LOL

Have a nice time now 🙂

Ah, Andro, you’ve just pointed out something very important. Harp lessons. I hadn’t thought about them. I was thinking of teaching myself… we’ll see where this idea takes me!
Yes, lots to do, lots of changes to make. It’s going to be fun! 😀

Hey there, Tom – this is a great list and you’ve inspired me to write my own. It’s a bit more big picture than my usual to-dos. Taking time out to reflect is one of the things I plan to do more of this year. 🙂

Hi Corisel… always take some time out for yourself, even if it is just to sit and do absolutely nothing! Have fun with your list! 😀
