Just after ten minutes past the eleventh hour tomorrow, Friday, it will be 11:11:11 11/11/11.
I tripped into a parallel universe earlier and thought that this had only ever happened once before in the history of mankind, in the year 1011. Of course I had completely forgotten about the centuries leading up to the eleventh century, and those after. There would have been an 11/11/11 in the seventeenth century for example. But not in the parallel dimension I had just tripped into. And in the year 1111, the date would have been a little more obvious – but not where I was.
The Moon is full today, leading us into the 11/11/11 with glorious brightness. I had to check that the Full Moon was today rather than tomorrow, but a little computer glitch highlighted the site that I use for the phases of the moon as pornography and wouldn’t let me through. I mean to say! Anyway, swiftly moving on…
So. Eleven Eleven. Ahem…
The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month is a time used to signify remembrance for the fallen, in conflicts around the world. This is usually marked respectfully by a two minutes silence, and I will be paying my respects at this time, although I’ll be at work whilst I am doing it.
The time 11:11 is a time that also signifies the presence of Angels. Similar to the 
appearance of white feathers or shiny pennies where you would least expect to see them, whenever you look at the clock and notice the time 11:11, use it as a reminder that Angels are with you. (This is also the case with other, similar times, such as 12:12; 1:11; 2:22 and so on).
It’s a nice thought to think that Angels are watching over whilst people are taking a couple of minutes out at 11 on 11/11/11 to pause and remember those who have gone before.
Some (seven, not eleven) Eleven eleven facts. You may or may not be aware that:
- Ellen DeGeneres has a record company called Eleveneleven, so named after she was seeing the time 11:11 everywhere she looked.
- Eleven divided by eleven is one. One divided by eleven is 0.0909090909… type in the date 11/11/11 into the Google search box and hit enter, and this is the first result you will see!
- Eleven has six letters. 6 is the midway point between 1 and 11.
- Eleven is the first number that can not be counted on a human’s eight fingers and two thumbs.
- Eleven is a unique prime number.
- 11 is also a strobogrammatic prime (this simply means that it reads the same if you are reading it upside down. Similar to 619)
- Eleven in Icelandic is ellefu. Eleven O’clock in Icelandic is klukkan ellefu.
Please remember, if you can, to pause for a moment at 11 O’clock on 11/11/11. It’s a small gesture, but a significant moment to show gratitude…
