The Land of Make Believe

In work today, I had another of my visions. Nothing as severe as the buildings opposite exploding, as they did when I was in that very boring meeting that time, but today’s vision was random to say the least.

The office in which I freeze work overlooks the picturesque vista of a factory. I think it is more of a warehouse nowadays, with what sounds like juggernauts rolling up every five minutes to pick up or drop off their load. The whole office shakes as they drive past, actually below, the fire escape that is outside of my window – although the shaking could be put down to me trembling in the icy cold. But enough about the air conditioning.

Beyond the factory / warehouse is a park or a field or something (I can’t see it because of the huge building that blocks my view) and beyond this there is a line of trees. These trees are on the horizon.

I imagine that just beyond the trees is the ocean, with bays and rocks and clear blue waters. Around one of the bays is my large house (much bigger than Aquatom Mansion) with its roof gardens, different level floors and magnificent gadgetry. And… the view from this house is spectacular. Not a brick can be seen of the factory before me… as though it isn’t even there.

Today, I was strolling back to my chair, and glanced out of one of the other windows. The aged walls of the factory went as far back as the eye could see, but instead of seeing the factory, I saw a dock building alongside a murky canal. Nobody was around, and the place was eerily quiet. Very sinister, actually, as the heavy clouds cast a sombre darkness all over the area. For one brief moment in time, I saw a life belt on the wall, but it faded away.

The scene I had pictured reminded me of a dream I had years ago, where I was swimming along in a canal such as this. I was part of a race, but I was the only one there. I don’t know to this day whether I was winning, losing or completely lost! I was all alone and can only remember the feeling that I had to keep on swimming.

As soon as I returned to my frost-covered chair, another juggernaut trundled along the road that had – a split-second ago – been a canal. The odd thing about this road, is that it sounds as though the lorries have to take a left turn just opposite my window, but in fact they have to travel quite a bit further along this road before they can turn, otherwise they’ll drive straight through the building itself. The sounds must be carried back to just outside my window, unless I’m hearing echoes of a previous time when there was another road there.

The strange thing about today, though, is that I was very busy. I wasn’t bored, I was enjoying myself (even through the cold; and this is something I don’t say about work very often!) so had no reason to pop on over into a parallel universe or dream of being in a far distant land. I went there automatically.

One thing I have noticed about these ‘slips’ into these lands of make believe is that they aren’t exactly comfortable. Not the most pleasant, when you think of the buildings exploding and the sinister-feeling canal. Maybe my inadvertent excursions to this other world are telling me that things are really better where I am.

Sometimes, messages arrive in the oddest of forms… don’t they?

True Enough, Sir Aquatom, messages couched in such a way seem to contain an extra added warning. But nevertheless a very strange vision, and I’m so glad the lorries take care not to turn before they should, or I’d imagine your Air Conditioning would be a completely natural one…. as in, no walls etc… and we don’t want that happening or you would definitely be freezing at work.
Funny how offices are always either too cold, or too hot…never just right… (or mayhap it’s we who are the wrong temperature? 😉 ) xPenx
