Blogging, Commenting, Visiting, etc…

I’ve always said that if blogging starts to feel like a chore, I will stop doing it.

Over the past few months, there have been periods of days where I’ve gone without posting, including October, which is usually my favourite time to get my spooky posts out there.

It’s been even longer, or so it seems, since I’ve been able to visit and comment on the wonderful array of blogs that I follow.

Challenges have taken a back seat, characters of mine are growing dustier and ever more impatient by the day.

I’m not going to stop blogging; it hasn’t reached a chore stage yet, and I don’t think, really, it ever will… I love writing and playing with words, and this is really the only place I’m able to do that.

Moving forward, I will try to post a few times a week, possibly not daily. See, non-committal, so not a chore.

I will try to visit (and possibly comment) on a handful of posts each week… I’ll leave a like if I don’t comment, but know that I have read your post if I do this. It’ll be a bit more obvious if I comment as well, though!

I seem to have so much to do at the moment. Everything is competing for the same time. A bit of jiggery pokery is needed to fit everything in… but fit everything will!

I’m kind of starting afresh from today. I’m not going back over past comments here, but thank you for leaving any if you did. I’m also not going to try to catch up with the blogs I follow. That said, in time, I may be able to do something about this, but I am making no commitment.

Happy November… and I will see you soon… sporadically. (I may change the name of the blog to The Sporadic Perspective… or maybe not… it takes an age to work out how to use the blog design block editor (whoever thought buttons with symbols and not words was an easy way forward, and an incomprehensible page structure saves time, must be from another planet – but that’s a rant for another day!)).

See you in Blogland!

I did something similar by not depending on prompts for inspiration, and I wrote when inspired … which means fewer comments and less reading time, but my muse is happier for it. I read your posts everyday, or when posted, sometimes I leave a Like but when I do it’s because I genuinely like it not because I want reciprocation. Be well, Tom, keep your finger in the ink so it doesn’t wither. And yes, happy November.

We’ve all felt the dense pressure of our world gone insane and have retreated to save ourselves…Not just bloggers, everybody TL…It’s important to be kind to yourself and be there to support yourself in everything you feel. There is NO right or wrong it just is and it is fine just the way it is. These are mind boggling times of situations we have never encountered before and so we are all stumbling along. It’s a good time to teach ourselves to let go of what we feel we should be doing and accept that we aren’t with no guilt or pressure. While our words are appreciated and important, the time spent creating them is now needed to create our new world and feel joy. Be well TL and just BE for a while. Blessings….VK

      Thanks, VK!
I am doing a lot of retreating lately, and it is working wonders… but other areas do take a hit because of it. That’s fine and things are quite smooth which is good. I’m focusing on me, though, and ‘out there’ stays out there… all of its nonsense, madness, and distractions are just something that try to get into me from time to time. My reflective barriers are up, so I’m only affected by things if I choose to be so.
So yes, BEING is definitely what I’m doing right now.
      Have a great weekend!

It’s always an ebb and flow mate, keeping creating for your own pleasure and satisfaction is what matters most I’d suggest. Everything else will be what it will be

Thanks, Michael. Yes, you’re right. Creating is fun and a welcome distraction to everything out there. Once I’ve aligned myself properly, I’ll give myself the time to be more creative. I’m just going through an alignment phase right now! 🙂

Hi Tom, Lately, contents recently typed, suddenly disappear!?

I don ‘t know how old you are. . .but if you live to be 90 or over, like me, I guarantee you will still be writing if you have an obsession with words. My dear husband also has and he’s 96. He finishes several crossword puzzles each day, plus a word-wheel, if he’s not reading. We even wrote a modest limerick/joke book together: The Moon is Wearing a Tutu, and I have managed to write and publish nine books, with a 10th waiting…(I have put glue on my perch!) ‘im indoors also wrote a Memoir, which I typed and had published for him. So, you see, there’s no hope for wordies… I wish you a long life, sir. Words are as valuable as music. Cheers Onwards and upwards. Joy Lennick

Hi Joy… thanks for your encouragement! 😀 I love the fact that you’re both still writing! Between you and me, I’m mid fifties, but to the outside world, I stopped ageing at 24!
All the best for your next book! I will get my first out there someday.
I hope the rains are keeping away from you, and I wish you a great and safe weekend.

Never enough hours in a day to fit everything in Tom! Even less when you have to battle the wordpress editor just to get one post up! Sounds like you’re familiar with its quirky design 🤪 Main thing here though is you’re OK 👍 and ticking along 😁

Interesting and losing time!⏲️I now have visions of finding and losing time, cancelling out any actually movement of time so that essentially time stands forever still…that would mean time ceased to exist right?👍😁We are trapped in a timeless moment….🤔(predictive text said a “Tomless” moment!)🥴

I would not like to be trapped in a Tomless moment indefinitely! That would be most unfortunate, and dare I say, a little boring! 🤭

It most certainly will not be indefinitely, Icewolf. Definitely not. Maybe just a tad indefinitely.

Maybe not for you, but it’s getting very close to the end for me and WP now. I concede that changing my theme has undoubtedly led to layout issues that I have spent 2 days correcting as best I can on posts done with the previous theme. But I see no rhyme or reason as to why those same problems with blocks completely messed up, are still doing that on new posts. Text and media block especially. I see no point to this new editor if they can’t make it function right. I’m not sure I see anybpoint to blogging right now either.😵‍💫🤨

Eek! Noooo! These things are sent to merely try us! The editor isn’t easy to use, not user-friendly, and highly frustrating, I agree. A nice little user guide would be helpful. Although the post editor seems to be easier to use (especially on the mobilius phoneus) than the theme editor is on a PC… I wouldn’t dare to use that on a mobile.
Did changing your theme remove all your posts, Icewolf? That shouldn’t happen and is very wrong… I’d mention that to support as it seems like a fault. The formatting on my older posts is terrible, but there’s a message on the site saying powered by WordPress, so if they’re happy with how that looks, who am I to change it?
Anyhoo, there are a lot of your posts showing in my reader, which look like you’ve reposted them, although the comments are there from last time, so it doesn’t seem they have been removed…hmmm.
An Icewolf void in Blogland would be terrible, but I can understand how you feel with the frustrations. It is frustrating when things don’t look how you’d like them to (I sigh every time I look in a mirror!) Spellchecker is playing up on the app, so I hope this makes sense and isn’t a garbled ramble.
If you can bear it, and your posts haven’t been removed, I would try to stick with the formatting and maybe post a post about why they look as they do, hoping moving forward things in the new theme would look better. I think someone from WordPress liked my post here, so they will probably be aware of the issues… if they did read, that is.
If you decide enough is enough, that’s fair enough on your part, but very sad on mine… but I’m not as regular a visitor or poster as I once was, so cannot command you to stay and keep blogging or anything.
We’ve been around for far too long for technology to see us off… and as bad as it is, it could be worse and we’re on blogger.. that platform is shockingly bad (in my opinion) but it may get better with use.
Sorry about this garbled nonsense, but replying on a mobile isn’t as easy as it was either…

I was doing just fine with the block editor till recently Tom. Now it seems to have a mind of its own. But thank you for your kind words 🙏 No…changing themes only trashed the layout of a percentage of the older posts. I’m too much of a perfectionist to happily tolerate my posts looking like they did. Even if nobody looks at them but me.Text and media blocks hanged into full size images filling the whole page with the text layered over the top in unreadable black print for example. Switching to “Gallery” block helped a little but the “Tiled Gallery” block was a disaster 🥴
Sorry about thebposts suddenlybshowing in your reader. I didn’t know that was happening. I didn’t repost them. Just moved them into drafts for editing to avoid losing comments etc and having to redo entire posts. They then published back to their original date spots. Apart from the pink candyfloss planet one. For unknown reasons that went in as a new post. I know that showed in the reader because it got a new like. I changed the date and it moved itself back to its original place.
I did have a blogger account but on a different Google address to the regular one, so they may have terminated the email address for lack of usage- unless there was incoming mail I’ve not been near to know about!
Anyway, having unleashed my inner wolf 🐺 🤪 unfortunately for the recipient I have asked a side, also released other frustrations too, so will continue with the blog until the next outrageous frustration arises with it 😏
