Valentine’s Castle

Serene scenery

With expansive manicured lawns

Reflective lakes

And dreamy distant mountains

Valentine’s castle is open

But its heart is elsewhere

This poem paints such a tranquil and picturesque scene, capturing the essence of serenity and beauty in nature, juxtaposed with the intriguing notion of Valentine’s castle being open yet its heart being elsewhere. It evokes curiosity and a sense of wonder about the stories and history that might reside within those castle walls.

The imagery of expansive manicured lawns, reflective lakes, and dreamy distant mountains provides a peaceful backdrop, inviting the reader to escape into this serene setting. The mention of Valentine’s castle adds a layer of mystery and romance, stirring the imagination.

I’m curious, what inspired the juxtaposition between the serene scenery and the castle’s heart being elsewhere? Do you envision a specific story or message behind this contrast?

      Hi Justin, and welcome!
I apologise for the delay in replying.
Thanks for your great comment. To answer your question, I think this post is possibly the opposite to the phrase ‘home is where the heart is’… still homely but somewhat empty.

Looks like a smaller version of the castle to the left of the water area….I wonder if it was for his dog? Hopefully not for his children!!!!! VK

You find the most apt music, Nancy.
To me, this one has a bit of a French feeling to it.

Gee, I’m not sure, Tom. This animated film is set in a fictional kingdom where both magic and early twentieth-century technology are prevalent. Maybe French music has taken over the radio stations!
