Upstairs

‘But the room’s too small,’ Denise said, looking at the mock-up of an extra dining area in a disused room on the floor above the large one that houses the Six Sentence Café & Bistro, ‘it will be even smaller with all the furniture inside.’

‘Nope… it’s not too small,’ Tom replied smugly, ‘it’s bijou, quaint and cosy… a bit like a first-class dining carriage on trains from the days when trains were trains.’

‘But you’ll never get the furniture up there, let alone in, with the staircase…’ Denise pointed to the door behind the stage.

‘Challenge accepted,’ Tom replied with a smile (he’d been anticipating a similar comment), ‘follow me!’

They both walked up the stairs and into the previously mentioned disused room, which had been transformed into an elegant indigo bijou dining room; Denise looked on, open-mouthed.

‘Merry Christmas,’ Tom smiled, ‘a little something for the festive rush!’

Posted for Six Sentence Stories. The prompt word this week is ‘Challenge’.

Speaking only for myself* I like the new room. Though not so much a restaurant guy, I’ve always enjoyed booths but this place, almost chairs but one side tufted. v cool

*yeah, like I’ve had a bead one anyone one character to pin that persona to lol

Thanks, Clark. It’s a little out of the way place to get away yet still remain.
And I know what you’re saying about personas… I have so many, I meet myself coming back sometimes! 🤣
